I think a good comparison is Silvio Berlusconi. Another egomaniac billionaire who got to run a country.

This may be a rerun, but it ties in with tomorrow’s new strip.

I think the safety razor is part of the “timelessness” of the strip. Like all the hats people wear compared to real life, or car models that sometimes look decades old, At the same time they keep modern equipment around. It keeps the strip from being tied down to a too specific era.

There’s been several cases of Phoebe taking Marigold for granted already. It’s a natural progression, but I worry about the long term viability of the strip now.

Unless you count the “reverse Sam” in the “Midnight Mirror” storyline.

Does Dana miss her old series title?

We see a further step of Dilbert turning into the strip we know. Wally has been around for a little while, but here we see his laziness.

Thanks. I must have missed that comment by Mike, though he wrote something similar about Dick’s meeting with The Phantom a few days ago. But if he’s saying that Sherlock Holmes, as well as Jules Verne’s characters, are, or were, also real, this is beginning to seem a bit like Alan Moore’s League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

I wouldn’t say that Kit Walker in his coat, glasses and hat outfit is a secret identity to the same degree that the civilian identities of superheroes from Marvel or DC are. I have never seen a scene where he has needed to take great care to protect his identity. Part of the reason is that he never has much of a social life in those clothes. Also, The Phantom is not really world famous. He’s well known in Bangalla, of course, but not outside it.
The big secret in The Phantom’s life is not that he and Kit Walker are one and the same, but that The Phantom in fact is a hereditary title, and all of them were named Kit Walker.

It does seem odd to me that Dick would know Kit Walker from before, but be surprised by his always trusty companion, Devil. Sharp eyed Honeymoon, though. Otherwise, the running gag is that people always take Devil to be a dog until they are shown otherwise.
