I’ve always tried to be careful to not lie to my kids. I’d say “You won’t know if you’ll like it, if you don’t try it.” and “It won’t hurt for very long.” I can’t remember a time when I was trying to get one to confess, but I probably would have said “You won’t get in as much trouble, if you tell the truth, than you will if you lie.”
I might say something that I find out later isn’t true, but I never intentionally lie.

Maybe she should read the book aloud to him? Many people think they don’t like to read because they’ve never read a book that interests them.

Too many times adults forget that kids don’t want to just sit around and chat when they have/are visitors. Even my 20-something sons can handle chatting for only so long. Then they need more activity. We plan on getting a pool table, so when they come visit, there will be something active to do. But even board games are preferable to them compared to just sitting and talking.

When both my parents were still living, I, my husband and our two kids would go visit almost every Friday evening. I’d cook supper (usually burgers) while the grandparents entertained/supervised the kids. Nothing elaborate, but it was great just spending time with each other. I also made time to call my mom almost every morning for a chat. Mostly to make sure they were okay, but we’d chat about what was going on in each others’ lives. When I was still employed, (before kids) the phone calls were shorter, but still it was good to converse on a regular basis. As a result, I was much closer to my parents than my four older siblings. (All childless, and usually single.)

Problem is that the power-of-attorney is only good until they die. Then all the power shifts to the executor of the estate. (However, they can be the same person if the legal paperwork is done that way.)

Saw a mouse in the kitchen just last night. Finished eating dinner, then went to my supply of pest control products. Selected the proper one and placed it.
My husband (right after I told him what I saw) asked me if I was going to get a mouse trap out. I think he thought I needed to do it immediately, but I figured waiting a few minutes wouldn’t matter. For some reason, pest control seems to be my responsibility, not his.

    What about jury nullification?
“A sanctioned doctrine of trial proceedings wherein members of a jury disregard either the evidence presented or the instructions of the judge in order to reach a verdict based upon their own consciences. It espouses the concept that jurors should be the judges of both law and fact.”

Reminds me of my husband. He never learned to play catch as a child. I once threw him a roll of paper towels, and the cardboard core hit him in a very “sensitive” spot. I probably said the same thing as Hobbes.

I can and do match up the shoulder seams, to figure out the front, if there isn’t something else like a design, pocket or V-neck.
What is difficult if there isn’t a tag, is finding a place to mark the owner’s initial. All four people in our household wear XL, so I usually mark the owner’s first initial on the tag. Shirts without tags, I usually mark on the seam in the back of the neck, but if it is a dark shirt, I have to embroider it with a light colored thread. White tags are easier to mark.

It had better be lined. Otherwise, it would be difficult drawing a gun from it, as it would catch on the yarn.
