    Following on from last week’s 1981 sequence, here is GBT’s final tribute to Dick Davenport. A birdsong tribute, the sequence starts on the 3rd (4, 6 and 7 are perhaps the better days). http://www.gocomics.com/doonesbury/1986/11/07
    The funeral sequence starts on the 10th (I especially like the last 3 of that arc, bird call tribute). Co-incidentally, the next sequence (particularly 20th Nov 1986, Havoc) is the sequence that first started my appreciation of Doonesbury (thanks to the Manchester Guardian). The Bachman triptych ends with the photographs of a Bachmans Warbler!

    I’m no twitcher, but I’m sure of two things, firstly those birds are not Bachman’s Warblers, second the colorist has invented a completely new species.
