Yeah, Bill Waterson has a lot of stupid opinions. Just goes to show the dangers of idolizing people and putting them up on a pedestal, they will inevitably disappoint you with utter drivel.
yeah, a lot of the stuff we see in his school is way too advanced for six-year-olds. maybe he’s in an advanced class. he did once mention that he prefers lower grades to higher ones because he prefers people’s expectations to be lower, maybe it’s because last time he did well in school he got moved up a few grades
if you’re trudging around in a forced march, the cold has much longer to set in, and you’re not being helped as much by your body’s thermoregulatory system because it’s trying to conserve energy. on the other hand, if you’re running around at high speeds, being active rather than passive, not only does the cold air not set in as easily, but your adrenaline is pumping and your system is running on overdrive, burning energy stores to keep you warm. thus, walking is a rubbish exercise to choose when it’s cold.
That’s not far off. You can wind up sneezing out some of your cerebrospinal fluid, although that’s not exactly “lubricant”.
