Chemical weapons are defined by treaty. None of the weapons mentioned here fit the definition.

This is not Iraq or even Afghanistan. This is more like Clinton bombing the Sudan or Reagan bombing Libya. We drop a couple of bombs, declare victory and it’s over. Had he just launched the attack rather than saying he was going to ask Congress, this would already be history and well on the way to being forgotten.

The odd thing is no President has ever asked for Congressional authority for a mission this small. The mere fact that he did has made people think it’s going to be bigger than it will be. The fact that he’s set a precedent for doing this may be the most important thing to come out of the entire affair.

Our greatest glory is in spending a lifetime to do something of no value? The fact that it’s difficult doesn’t make it important.

The problem with the HC system is that you need a bureaucracy to run it., i.e. to handle the selection, notify the people involved, etc. Since it’s all done behind close doors it become simple for that bureaucracy to rig the system. How would anybody know if the members of the HC are actually selected at random since the public doesn’t see it happen or even know who’s on the council?

The difference is that the police didn’t care that Martin was shot while the people who shot Lane were arrested almost immediately. Black people get arrested, white people get to walk.

And Zimmerman was the aggressor by stalking Martin. Martin merely attempted to stand his ground. You can’t attack someone and, when they try to defend themselves, claim self defense in killing them.

I’m concerned that we may be about to lose the two of them from the story. After all, it’s called “Endtown” not “Wandering around in the wasteland after leaving Endtown”. Characters have more or less disappeared before.

It wasn’t the mask, it was the call for Obama to be hurt by a bull that crossed the line. And had it been a GWB mask in the same situation, there would have been a negative response.

Also note that the fair in question is supported in part by government funds. As such it should try to remain non-political.

All that said, who really cares? Get a life people.

There are no good guys in Egyptian politics at the moment. We should stay as far away from this mess as possible.

Interestingly, several other western countries have also taken precautions. If they’re relying on our information, then for the US administration to point to them as proof that the threat is real is circular logic. If they aren’t relying on US information, then there must have been a way to see the threat without the NSA spying.

And the reason Republicans now love whistle blowers is that they know they’ll never be in the White House again.
