The triumph of treason, racism, ignorance, corruption, narcissism, know-nothingism, hatred, and contempt for the rule of law over intelligence, respect for democracy and democratic institutions, justice, wisdom, and kindness. There aren’t even any words for the depth of the unfolding tragedy.

But all of these attacks on Obama are proven lies.

Something for all the right-wing snowflakes who can dish it out – and dish out not only insults, but actual death to the poor and powerless, and to the planet – but can’t take it. https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2018/04/whca-sanders/559253/

Everybody who is criticizing Comey really ought to read his book. It’s strikingly honest and extremely important.

Put Trump and Comey’s words, temperament, history, and manner side by side. Who do you think is trustworthy? Who do you think is a decent person? Would anyone in his right mind seriously say Trump?

Like firing the Air Traffic Controllers – and trying to crush unions in general – was a good thing. Yeah, Trump probably would repeat that act of sadistic class warfare, indeed.

In other words, you believe in limited government. Newsflash: Pretty much everyone does; everyone except outright fascists. We may disagree on where the boundaries are – I’d like to see national single-payer health insurance, for example – but we don’t disagree that government powers need to be clearly bounded and defined. You’re making a strawman argument; Democrats – and social democrats – and almost all of those you lump into a nonexistent American “left” – are not fascists (and the American colonists were demanding the rights of Englishman, BTW; it was only when they didn’t get them that they thought of independence. And, to point out the obvious, most of them were perfectly tolerant of slavery, which means that their dedication to liberty meant only “Liberty for me.”)

Who, exactly, is coming to Assad’s defense? No one here. What people are pointing out is that Trump has no intention of bothering the Russians or their client Assad; and clearly he couldn’t care less about the well-being of the Syrian people. So he gave them several days’ warning to get their equipment and personnel out of the way and destroyed some empty buildings and called it a day, then boasted and postured in his usual way. I gotta say, Trump sure is ACTING like there’s a pee tape out there.

Oh for crying out loud. A strong state is a necessary (although obviously not sufficient) condition for having any rights at all. It’s the ahistorical reactionaries who can’t seem to grasp that individual rights can exist simultaneously with social rights – indeed, can’t exist without them. But cling to the idiotic libertarian delusion. https://www.newyorker.com/humor/daily-shouts/l-p-d-libertarian-police-department

“Gun abuse” is not a "symptom of social decay. Americans aren’t any different now than we’ve ever been. And as a matter of fact, our violent crime rate has dropped ENORMOUSLY over the last 25 years. So social decay has led to a drop in crime? However, our violent crime rate is still about five times higher than it is in other developed democracies that have strong gun laws. Why do you think that is? These are facts. They only way you can cling to the idea that gun control doesn’t work is by ignoring these facts. http://www.latimes.com/science/sciencenow/la-sci-sn-gun-laws-homicides-20180305-story.html
