Very retired 1st wave boomer. Been reading the comics since I was five & have hardly missed a day since. Comics, coffee & many greasy do-nuts every morning. Best way to start every day. even tho ze body screams in protest.

If you’re reading the Big Nate strip then you’re seeing the other side of what we’re reading in Luann’s strip. That’s when the 35 yr old son never left home and lives in the basement in his parent’s home, when they probably should have said “don’t let the door hit your butt on the way out” when he graduated from high school. Greg Even’s has done a masterful job in describing the emotions of graduating from high school & moving into the real world. Thank you, Greg, thank you.

Yay, Katie. Sounds like Jack needs to learn a few things, say the lyrics to our National Anthem & to be Katie’s #1 supporter. Happy 4th to all especially to those who protect us and those who came before: Grandpa in WW1, my dad hit the trifecta – WWII, Korea and Viet-Nam (35 years in all & been gone too long).

Oops. Too bad there’s no way to correct errors. Meant to type in 25 years.

So is this joke. I read it 52 years ago.

    Go for it, Ruthie.

Egads, I actually remember the day when this particular strip ran in the papers. Of course, back then Doonesbury was required for all college students (& millions more) who weren’t members of the Young Republicans. What a time it was! So grateful that that those under 40 are getting to see what we read every day.

Back when I had a paper route (teens then in my 30s & 40’s with my sons) I’d stop in Winchell’s donuts (on my route) for a donut or 2 and coffee & sit with the usual gang. We did the same thing, too, commenting on the news. Good one today, Kevin, good one.

Ah, been there & done that & will every day till “the end”. They’re like old friends by now. Any change in the tinnitus and/or floater frequency generally means I’m catching a cold or sinus problem. Good one, Reed Hoover.

Seems to be that I’ve heard those lines from the 2nd & 3rd panel before.

Ain’t it the truth. No more light bulb jokes, or anything similar. Dullsville all the way, all the time.
