The Indians were in Arizona for hundreds of years before the Arizona legislature even existed. Then the Mexicans were there for another couple of hundred years–until white people took Arizona away from Mexico.

Next step: she goes to a Tea Party meeting and learns that it’s all the government’s fault and that’s where she should aim her second amendment remedy.

“Democrats had their chance and they blew it.”

Obama inherited an incipient Great Depression, two intractable wars and a Rebublican mindset that believes in blocking everything Dems try to do and savaging Obama on a personal and political level.

If your philosophy is to vote against incumbents because they don’t live up to your ideals, you will always be voting no. Why not roll up your sleeves and get involved politically?

    There is a solution: http://youstreet.org.

Unfortunately, people get caught up in arguing over the symptoms rather than the cause of our problems: money in election campaigns. In our current system, even the most idealistic politician MUST accept special interest contributions in order to get elected.

    cdward said,

“…this has to be laid at the feet of congress – especially at Lieberman and Nelson. The Republicans were always going to vote as a block because their goal has nothing to do with the good of the country – only with beating Obama.”

No, it has to be laid at the feet of our miserable campaign finance system, which requires our representatives to sell their souls to big money interests like the health insurance industry in order to finance their election campaigns. Yes, including Obama himself.

For an alternative that is already working in several states, see http://youstreet.org.

Money in political campaigns is the core of what’s wrong with our country. It is the disease; all other Congressional disappointments are the symptoms. Until we the people decide we’re going to publicly finance our candidates’ political campaigns, we will continue down the road to oligarchy in America.
