I agree. Much better to occupy a church pew than a park bench / on a weekly basis than a one-time shot / to plead witrh our gracious God than the uncaring government / to beg for mercy than demanding more money.

Yes, Chicken, sometimes it is. But He has revealed Himself in His Word. And if you really study the Bible - not just a sentence here or there - and really listen to what it is saying to you, you’ll get a pretty good “handle” on who God is and on what His will is for you. Just give Him time to speak to your heart. Often times, though, He has to wait for you to first realize that your “solutions” don’t work before you are willing to accept any “outside” advice.

Does it “sound better” when an expensive watch tells you what time it is? The time on my Timex is the same time as on that Rolex.

Chicken is probably trying to keep Donkey from falling into depression. Out in the cold and snow, hungry, perhaps lost, Donkey is on the verge of giving up. Chicken is trying to scare Donkey into sucking it up and getting with the program, changing his complaints into courage and his helplessness into hope. Sometimes it takes a verbal “shock treatment” to jump-start the willpower.

Steve, There will always be a few people who find offense where “none” was intended and “none” should be taken. We just went through and are still in the most “offensive” days of the year, namely, “Merry Christmas” or “Happy Holidays.” I’m a Christian, and since it’s Christ’s birthday and that’s what I celebrate, I’m going to wish them a “Merry Christmas.” If someone wishes to be more politically - correct, well, then, wish them a “Merryappy Christoliday.” Of course, there still must be something “offensive” in that!

If Jesus truly is the reason for the season for YOU, then it is Christmas every day, in spite of the date on the calender or the displays in the store or what others do or don’t do. Christian joy runs much deeper than just a superficial, temporary happiness based on feelings which come and go, rise and fall. It’s an attitude anchored in the unchanging promises of a loving God who is continually making all things work together for our good.

“Is it okay to date a nun?” “Sure, as long as you don’t get into the habit.”
