   I’m crying here for both you and Apple. Our big orange baby girl, Lan, was diagnosed with breast cancer when she was about 7 years old. The vet did a mastectomy, but it was an aggressive cancer and was back within a couple of months. We talked with the vet about chemo and other treatment, but the nearest clinic that could do this was in Charlotte and about a 30 minute drive one way. After we got the info, my hubby and I discussed it (she was pretty much devoted to him) but just couldn’t bring ourselves to do it. She’d be upset with the long drives, terrified being in a clinic as well as misery of the treatment. We just couldn’t put her through that, especially for something that might not even work considering how aggressive the cancer was. We chose to just let her live out whatever days she had in peace with us at home, and were lucky enough to enjoy her companionship for about 6 more months. When her health began to fail and she wasn’t interested in eating anymore, we knew it was time to let her go.

   It’s never an easy decision and I can’t bring myself to even suggest what you might do. Just wanted to let you know that you’re not alone in this and sending virtual hugs to you and Apple and wishing you strength to get through this.

   Personally, I enjoyed your work, both writing and art. It was like a short story in comic strip form, and the different style gave it an anthology type of flavor. Thanks for sharing!
