   Less than 4% of the Dept of Energy loans defaulted and the teleprompter meme is not only tired but was never true in the first place — not only is Obama hardly the first prez to use one, but he is, off the cuff, one of the most articulate men in the White House since Kennedy or maybe Teddy Roosevelt.

   Generally love the strip, but this is a colossal blunder down a dark alley.

   Uh, corps-man, 10,000 people die in a Kansas tornado, Japanese cars get 45 mpg, 44 Americans have now taken the presidental oath,? And then there are dozen of things such as "President Obama said Lazarus was “inspired by what she saw and heard, she wrote down her thoughts and donated a piece of work to help pay for the construction of a new statue – the Statue of Liberty which actually was funded in part by small donations from people across America.”- Any kid who went to school in America knows it was given to us by France. Do I need to say more?

   Off the cuff, Clinton was a great speaker. One time at a joint session the wrong speech was loaded, and no one realized it because he took it in stride. Bush II wasn’t particularly articulate with or without a Teleprompter, but I also believe there was a similar incident that occurred when he was President. It might have been before a TV address.

   Obama without a Teleprompter tends to ramble. He knows what he wants to say, but needs prepared text in order to stay focused. Otherwise he just drones on and on about minutia. His performance in the first debate is evidence enough of that.

    yes, the statue was supplied by france, but the site and pedistal were funded by americans. joseph pulitzer of the new york world newspaper’s campaign attracted over a hundred thousand contributions, which finished the job. without those american contributions, the statue wouldn’t be there.
