Because she feels comfortable in that “uniform”.
Let Teena be Teena, not your idea of Teena.

So, Mom, you want Teena to be like Jeri? Why? You’ve already got a Jeri. Let Teena be who she is, and stop trying to cram her into some standardized “girl” box.

My daughters – particularly my older, 10-year-old – LOVE to wear dresses.

Her mother’s trouser/top combination is hardly a good example of femininity… but she knows she looks (and feels) good in it, so why undermine her daughter’s confidence?

Look in a mirror, mom. A plain top, and straight slacks. Teena is learning by example. Don’t try to turn her into a Shirley Temple.

Sometimes you gotta prod a kid into trying something new. Then step back and let them discover for themselves.

I never wanted to go shopping for new clothes and did not want anything the least bit trendy

Finally one year in High School I broke down and “let” my Mom buy me some nice stuff

That was the year the girls noticed me

Yes, we know, but not every one. Some are different and should be left alone.

Gender isn’t in the clothes but their morphology. Not that everyone agrees.

The girls never noticed me so it must be more than clothes.
