Can’t taste the difference either Teena! Besides, cereal companies ARE gross especially in calculating their obscene PROFITS!

There are some supermarket generic cereals where it is probably better to eat the box because it tastes nicer that the product inside.

AND profit margins at Kellogg were 6.7% not even close to obscene, while Apple was operating at a margin of over 25%.

Skip the cereal, just eat oatmeal, it’s healthier.

In Battle Creek, MI, the cereal capitol of the world, a vicious killer is stlll on the loose following several murders here during the past three weeks. The victims include Tony The Tiger, Captain Crunch, the Lucky Charm’s
Leprechaun and all three of the Snap, Crackle and Pop guys. The police suspect a cereal killer.

A profit is obscene when someone else makes it.

Take my word for it, Teena, Jeri’s got a point this time….in her own clueless sort of way. You get what you pay for. The cheaper products cost less for a reason.

I agree to a point— you have to be careful how cheap you go, because you do ‘get what you pay for’. On the other hand, you can also overpay on brand names because you’re ‘paying for the label’. I’ve found that many of those store brand cereals taste no different than the brand-name ones, the pricey ones just have a better advertising budget.

cereals was about 25 cents a box until the oil embargo business in the early 70s, and the cereal people realized folks were eating cereal for dinner. they upped the price 4 to 8 times. the cereal in a box still costs them pennies.

Several supermarket chains market a generic version of Grape-Nuts, almost always called “Nutty Nuggets”. I can’t tell the difference, the label nutrients are the same, and the generic costs a lot less. High prices usually mean inefficient operation, poor cost management, and/or union pressure.
