I’d like to hear from some medical experts on the veracity of those statements.

All of the descriptions are accurate. (I’m not a medical expert, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.)

I have a friend who is an RN who absolutely hates those medical websites. She hates when people self-diagnose, usually picking the worst possibility of the many that certain symptoms would fit.

I don’t know…I think those sites can be beneficial, to an extent. It’s not meant for diagnosing yourself, but can give you an idea Before you go to a professional. Or afterward, when you want to know more about whatever the doc told you.
But I’m kinda a hypochondriac and can see how people get carried away :P

I have used those web sites and I both love and hate them. On one hand, you can get more information on what you have, but you can always assume the worse. For instance, I have hip and knee pain with occasional severe lower back pain. I have spoken to my doctors who have ignored it. I checked it out and the odds are I have a sciatic problem. Considering that the first step in all the possibilities is to loose weight, I’m doing that first and then seeing the doctor about it.
My husband had severe abdominal pain along with a few other symptoms. I researched his symptoms and came up with three possibilities. Based on my knowledge of him, I was able to limit it to one. In the meantime, he had gone to the doctor twice who checked him and said they don’t know what he has, even after testing. He was even told that my suggestion was impossible. A week later he was in the hospital being told we don’t know what’s wrong. I told the doctor, was ignored. He had a CT scan-I was right.
Never under estimate intelligent evidence gathering.
