    You don’t want to be associated with someone like Jeri. Even if she isn’t a nympho maniac.

    Is that a guy or a girl he’s talking to?

    Hehe, exactly. Also, that IS a guy – wants to try out for the basketball team for a chance with Jeri (right?). Pinecone needs to get some better friends…male and female : /

    In the first 3 panels Johnson looks like Jeri and Teena’s mom.

    Doubt if mom would put with that behavior for too long…

    @Steven Young

    It has to be a guy. But now that you mention it, you can’t be too sure.

    Out-of-sync comic. Today, young boys wear long hair until their teens. Then they go for the nappy look; crew-cut-shaved or something like that.

    And then they cover it with a baseball cap with a visor that looks like half of a drainpipe.

    Don’t know, but I think it is a girl Johnson is talking to. In the final panel he’s (kinda) asking her out.

    Johnson is hetero so it is a girl.

    No, no, no…Chelsea has it exactly right. That’s a guy, he’s suddenly interested in trying out for the basketball team in order for a chance to get with Jeri, and Johnson is saying he needs to start seeing other people…people other than Jeri and this friend of his; he’s not asking his friend out.

    But I understand the confusion; Ms. Barrows’ characters do tend to have an androgynous look to them. Johnson’s eyes in the last panel are the clincher to how to read his comment.
