    Teena moved pretty fast, ejecting the horror movie and replacing it with Westside Story before his parents walked into room; and their DVD player is probably just a single disk. That’s not a one-step process, and there’s no eject button on the remote.

    My Toshiba remote has an eject button on the remote.

    Some DVD players, CD players and some VCR’s have eject buttons on the remote. Why they would do that is beyond me.

    The eject button is so that you can open the disc or the cassette and remove it, without having to go to the player. I’ve always seen eject buttons on remotes, including DVD players. What’s so strange about it?

    @Clark Kent

    So you can try throwing the disk/tape/whatever and landing it perfectly where it needs to go

    How do you remove the disc from the player without someone walking over to it and picking it up?

    Though in the 1980’s, where this originally ran, such technology wasn’t out there yet.

    Well they certainly learned a lesson about “R” rated films didn’t they? Not for kids.

    I still remember the clench of horror in my gut the first time I saw Bernardo stab Riff, ~40 years later.

    Unless you have a multi-disk DVD player, which I haven’t seen, you may have a eject button on the remote, but that only opens the disk drawer remotely. The disk must still be removed manually and a new one inserted manually. And for Teena to complete all those procedures before Gordo’s parents walk into the room is quite remarkable. Then there’s the itme the disk requires to engage, and the trouble of finding and going to the appropriate scenes. It would be more than quite remarkable.

    Okay, okay, yeah yeah yeah… technical and beyond. I just wanted to answer the question about the “eject” button on remotes – yes, they exist – but it’s a cartoon, okay? Play along!
