She’ll tell her kids about dollar stores which are like today’s five and dime. And I do remember the five and dime stores when I was a kid.

Dollar stores are now too cheap. There is now a chain called “Five Below”, meaning everything is below $5. Brace yourself, children, for “Ten Below” and beyond.

These days the things that really distinguishes a dollar store from a regular store is that they hack the extra 99 cents off the prices. Sometimes maybe even *$1*.99…

I remember buying a candybar for 3 cents! if you bought a pack of cigarettes from a machine, you put in 2 quarters and when the cigs came out there were 2 or 3 pennies inside the cellophane wrapping!!! This was from the mid to late fifties… Oh, darn! I’ve dated myself…
