    I hope he’s not allergic to bee stings! His butt may swell up.

    I didn’t understand this one – they’re talking about mooching and then an angry bee stings Poncho – huh?

    @Dave

    Ponch’s remark in panel 3 and the sign on the bee’s but in panel 5 tie it all together, I think.

    not to nitpick, but i’ve seen many people comment on comics and say, look at panel # or refer to panel # etc… just to be clear, a panel in a comic is the square box the cartoon appears in… @Citizen GROG, your comment about the joke is good, but you mean to say, balloon, not panel. Poncho’s comment is in the 2nd panel.

    So much for my eye sight. I swear I saw 5. Very well. The 2nd panel, ties in with the last.

    Also considering a bee can only sting once its clearly not a bee.

    How does Boomer know Ponch is good at mooching? How do they know what happened in the plane yesterday? I know it’s just a comic strip but ???

    Before it became Exxon, that little stinger was considered as a mascot.
    Yep….the Esso Bee!

    BTW, the brand is still known as Esso north of the U.S.

    Once upon a time,
    A little honeybee,
    Fell in love with a butterfly
    That he met in a tulip tree.
    He said “I love you madly,
    And I want to share your life.
    Let’s fly away together.
    Will you be my wife?”
    The butterfly shook her head in sorrow;
    “No, no, no!” cried she.
    “For I am a monarch’s daughter,
    And you’re just a son of a bee!”

    (Reader’s Digest, “Laughter, the Best Medicine,” September 1981.)
