Squirrel Cafe! Now we’re talking! Let’s just dig a tunnel and catch them by suprise! Maybe there will be chipmunks and rabbits too! I am getting too excited and ahead of myself. The boys and me better be mapping out a plan right away.

oh my, ok, the cafe is in an empty lot, yay, surrounded by a fence, now we just have to check each alley to finally find that place, ouch

ACK! The rodents have moved to Pooch Cafe!

Poncho must of came in the Cafe’ through the back door and through a hole in the back fence, or needs glasses.

SQUIRRELS? Wha tha?
kreole said, 3 months ago
Is that a battle plan on the table? Did the plankie plot caper burn out so fast that squirrels had to be brought in? I hope not—the plankie caper still needs explaining…like how did Rotten Branch Tree dog purchase tickets and mail invitations? Need more…….

As I was savoring the delicious anticipation of where this plot development will take us, the thought occurred to me…
As prominent a part as squirrels play in literally dozens of comic strips, why is there no strip STARRING a squirrel? (Doesn’t count if it equally stars a turtle and a raccoon.)
I suppose the comedic possibilities of squirrels don’t make up for the lack of a ready-made audience such as keeps Marmaduke and Heathcliff going.

To state the obvious… because no one else has…least not yet… this new adventure is gonna be crazy… with a Kapitol K… and I bet you thought I was gonna say that it was gonna be Nutts!!!!

Hey y’all. One of my favorites is available here called Bob the Squirrell. It’s great and Frank (the artrist) has a wonderful sense of humor. highly recommend it.

They’ve had squirrels featured prominently from time to time on Dog eat Doug as well, and they’re cute. I wouldn’t mind seeing more squirrels in comics.
What I wonder is when they’re going to have a Cat Cafe for all those lovely cats Poncho lives with?
prasrinivara said, 3 months ago
Well pscherer, did you forget Chip’n Dale, which stars two squirrels?

What about Bullwinkle and Rocky?
scooteratw said, 3 months ago
Uh, Chip and Dale are chipmunks, not squirrels. Sorry, can’t help it if there’s a Disney freak inside me.
prasrinivara said, 3 months ago
Aren’t chipmunks land-squirrels scooteratw?
(also, Chip and Dale do live in a tree-hollow).
On the nail, TerryLonewolf (though pschearer may dock you for the point that it also equally-bills a moose).

I too love Bob The Squirrel. Squirrels are certainly invading the minds of our beloved cartoonists lately.
doctortoon - The Rodent Revolution has taken to building permanent structures now.

Well CLEO, don’t most cartoonists have to be a little ”squirrely” to do there toons justice??!!

cleo - I’ve been trying to warn people that the rodents are organizing.
Look at the Squirrels in Rose is Rose and Dog Eat Doug.
The Chipmunks in Barkeater Lake.
And the mice in Garfield and Overboard.
The Rodents are taking over the world of Comics and there is nothing we can do to stop them!!!
cfarmer said, 3 months ago
can’t forget Rat in Pearls Before Swine…he’s by far the rodent ring leader!

Lonewolf - Good point, you are absolutely correct.
doctortoon - Yep, they either have a strong union or a good agent.
HelmetHead said, 3 months ago
Don’t forget, they breed like rabbits.

Right now there’s a Squirrel involved in the story line of Little Dog Lost which can be pretty funny. My dogs LOVE the Squirrels in our backyard..that is to say CHASE them, but of course they never catch them. Pretty funny to watch.

Now this is nothing but an act of provocation, pure and simple!

PPP might want to enlist Carmen’s cats to help the Pooches regain their lot.
By the way there are squirrels featured from time to time in ROSE IS ROSE…not to mention OVER THE HEDGE.
BlueRaven said, 3 months ago
Chipmunks and ground squirrels are two different critters, though related. Ground squirrels don’t have those back stripes, for one.

You’d better reconnoiter the enemy… If Bob, Foamy, and Rocky are in the chain of command, you’d better proceed with great caution…

I look forward to Poncho’s take on that scene from “Downfall” when the battle goes against the pooches.

I wonder what side the cats will take in the War.

To curry favour is to bring pleasure.
To curry Chicken Vindaloo is to bring satisfied smiles.
But -dear friends- To curry a squirrel is to ask for disasters beyond a wild one’s imagination….
Beware fair folk, beware I say!
Uh…. Mrs. Tubbsbottl says aye for that!

Ah, I forgot about Bob the Squirrel. But tote that up against all the dog and cat strips and it still makes my point.
Where I live is a-swarm with rodents. I have christened them as follows:
squirrels = tree rats
mice = little rats
chipmunks = cute rats
rats = rat rats
