   Dogs hang out of windows because they do not have sweat glands which cool the body like humans. Dogs cool themselves by panting and having the breeze waft the moisture over their bodies. A moving car creates a greater wind, much like sitting in front of an electric fan.

   They also like to see where they are going.

    Uh,TorstenAdair, I think it is for the smell rush they get. Smell is their primary sense, and getting it firehosed at them has to be the most interesting part of their day.
