    The no snitching code on the street is always an ever present barrier, but it seems to garner more attention in the face of a string of tragic department losses. A few years ago when Philadelphia seemed to be tragically losing so many good officers in such a short span of time, alot of attention was brought to the problem of refusal to cooperate with the police. Now we see the same thing in Chicago, where recently officers lives have been lost, seemingly one after another, due to LOD deaths and even violence off duty resulting in the loss of an officer. So I thought it would be appropriate to write a strip about it once more.

    @Garey Mckee

    I find myself trapped regarding this issue. It is absolutely unconscionable to remain silent when your cooperation could mean the difference between saving people’s lives versus guaranteeing future bloodshed. I subscribe to few absolutes in life, but that’s on the short list.
    The uncomfortable reality, however, is that there is a history of shared experience that is entirely beyond the understanding of those ouside these communities, and cutting through that thick, hard legacy is not easy. Nor is it helped by the continuing bad behavior of too many in authority who abuse their power. The dynamic of mistrust is definitely a two-way street, and solutions are evasive.
