    It’s either a bit clogged with grass in the chute, or it needs a refill of gas.

    with today’s “cleaner emissions” gasoline, if the fuel has sat in the tank longer than 30 days, you can bet the fuel system needs cleaning…

    I know this too well also…I mean it is almost to the point that you should toss your old mower at the end of the mowing season instead of letting it sit through Winter…and get a new one every year…

    Or untangle the cord, if yours is electric. because no matter how carefully you roll it up, when you try to use it again, the &@*&$# thing is all knotted and tangled.

    @firedome

    Never had a problem with the new formulas. The old stuff was 10% varnish.

    Use good gas and oil. Change the oil, plug, and filter.
    Pay more for a mower with a good engine.
    Mine has started on the second pull for 15 years.

    I buy non-alcoholic gas. Costs a bit more but worth it.

    My last old mower would never finish the entire yard without some kind of breakdown. Smoked like a freight train too!
