At one thrift shop I volunteer at, had some (approx.) 20-year-old baseball cards donated that had bubble gum in plastic wrap. After trying the gum myself, it crumbled in my mouth and tasted awful. Yuck.

That’s one thing you never do is chew the gum…I tried it years ago when we used to buy packs of card from our local candy store and it was bad even fresh…

Could never understand the fascination with baseball cards, I preferred the movie stars on the lids of ice cream cups.

The first baseball cards came with cigarettes and tobacco products.

You must be close to my vintage—-I remember a lovely Madge Evans on the lid of my Dixie Cup.

Trust me — even fresh that gum never tasted good. I collected Monkee trading cards (amongst others), and usually I just threw the gum away. Yuck!

You are right, but we didn’t care about the gum after trying it for the first time we just tossed it…as I said on second comment, that it was always bad even when fresh
