I might feel different about “Body Art” if there were an established esthetic for it. I’m rather Familiar with Maori Facial Tatooing, for example, and EVERY mark has a SPECIFIC Meaning; Battles fought, how many Wives and Children, Rank in the Tribal and clan structure, etc. It’s an effective means of COMMUNICATION.

If I ask an American what their Tatoo MEANS, they look at me like I sprouted an extra head:

“Means, it doesn’t have to MEAN anything.”

Then why did you do it?"

    “I. . . uh . . . ?”

She might well be a sailor, carnie or a dock worker.

My LEAST favorite “Pluggers” ever. I never thought there’d be a snotty, judgmental one. I thought a Plugger would never judge by appearances. Very disappointing, Gary. Shame on you.

He’s going to be lucky that he doesn’t get hit for looking. Several times, I’ve gotten threatened with bodily harm for just noticing the ‘decorations’ not staring and the female was by herself. So, for what do they have it if not for ‘admiring’?

@1after909 – a recurring theme of “Pluggers” is the narrowing viewpoint often demonstrated by older people as they see society move away from their norms. I prefer to celebrate those who maintain mental, emotional, and physical flexibility as they age.

Why would anyone want to mutilate their body?

Multiple tattoos correlate with mental illness. Consider them a warning and steer clear.

Judgmental on “both” sides. One person’s mutilation is another’s improvement project.

BTW I think this is why peeps get ink – they want to draw attention to themselves – this young lady’s mission is accomplished.
