One of the greatest joys in life is feeding the birds, watching them raise their young! We have a great crop this year, bluejays, cardinals, robins, grackles, sparrows, doves, finches, mocking birds! Wonderful!

I miss that, Jolly! We can’t put feeders up because of the bears. We can only feed them in winter while the bears are asleep. But we DO have a nice selection of very appreciative cardinals, titmouse, chickadees, and mourning doves all winter.

I can remember feeding pigeons and sparrows (and some “collateral” other species such as bulbuls and mynas) with rice-husks in Mumbai (btw, this was in apartment complexes–in one case on balcony-sill and other on a ledge behind the kitchen).

Pluggers not only take care of their own, but other species as well.
