    Earl Pickles must be learning from Jon Arbuckle.

    Earls right. I wore a purple sock and a black sock. I had a matching pair in the sock drawer, too.

    That’s what happens when you put on a pair of
    socks in the dark Earl.

    “Not a match, the board goes back”. Bill Cullen never did recover from the one time he met Earl.

    @Superfrog

    Huzzah!!

    I always wonder about the kind of person who doesn’t see the rest of the human they’re looking at, just fixates on their socks. For a period of time in my 40’s I deliberately mismatched socks just to see who would notice that and nothing else about me. A startlingly high number, in fact. You could wear a rubber nose and they’d still say, “Did you know you’ve got different socks on?”

    (Can’t edit anymore). I would always reply to those who showed such surprise at my socks: “I consider matching socks to be a manifestation of the bourgeios mentality.” Gave them something to think about besides my socks.

    It’s about as good a match as Earl and Opal.

    Next time, don’t let her see them. She won’t know the difference.

    I have done the shoe thing and my X used to do the sock thing all the time, his logic was that when he is standing up no one can tell because his pants covered them. Back in the 70’s he had a bunch of those stupid looking white socks with the colored band at the top, he never ever matched those, after all the bottom of the sock was white.
