When I was a kid you could buy small turtle for
pets but later on the government outlawed
people from having them because people were
    getting diseases from them.

We had one of those red ear turtles and one day it was just gone, we looked everywhere, so we thought…we found it much much later in the far corner of our closet…yah, you guessed it…RIP George

‘I want to get a pet monkey.’
“A pet monkey? But what about the smell?’
‘I got used to it, and the monkey’ll get used to it!’

@Jo…I’m still wondering about the one that disappeared when I was four. I still have dreams that I’m looking for it. We never found it.

Grandma must be trying to knock off the kid with salmonella. Turtles are often infected with salmonella and there is no way to make them safe except to follow the advice for hamburgers: “Cook until the juices run clear.”
