The second panel reminds me of the environmentalists here in the PNW for the last 35 years or so.

One of the sillier situations when I was a kid: the USFS was using 2,4,5T to get rid of certain types of trees and shrubs. The ecos objected because it killed their pot plantations. Couldn’t admit why they wanted herbicides gone, so they came up with some interesting excuses. When one is stoned, the excuses the blotto mind comes up with can be very “interesting.”
