   My grandmother would disinfect a sewing needle with a match followed by a dip in the rubbing alcohol bottle. That needle and a pair of tweezers was all she needed. Don’t remember getting a bandage afterward.

   The old Scout manual when I was a kid recommended using a needle that had been sterilized by flame (such as a match or lighter) or dipped in rubbing alcohol.

   Try getting half a toothpick in your heel. Getting that out is PAINFUL and requires a doctor (who wasn’t kidding when he said it would hurt a lot).
