Earl cheats.
Thirdguy said, 11 months ago
What he should be doing is showing Nelson how to pick the best rock for skipping. A smooth, flat, round one. And how to hold it, with your fore finger wrapped around the circumference. And how to throw it sidearmed, releasing the stone as low and as parallel to the water as possible.
Nelson would never forget it, and always atribute his skill to his Grandfather.

I meant attribute, sorry.

No, I didn’t. Do it again with one.

@Thirdguy
Hey! I learn something new everyday just by reading the comics. Never did skip a rock – I will have to try it now. Thanks for the instructions.

I was on earlier this morning and I am so happy to see that comments that are rude and suggest nasty behavior towards the comic characters are now being deleted. I’ve always liked this comic from the first day that I’ve read it. Opal and Earl depict married life as most of us are actually living it (according to some comments posted here).

The older I get, the truer that is. But I’ve been a fan of this strip long before ( o.k. it wasn’t that long ) I hit curmudgerdom.

The hard part of that trick is throwing all the rocks in a straight line so they LOOK like just one rock skipped 15 times. My kids each fell for it once…

Does one “ker-plunk” count as a skip?

Well Nelson, nothing stopping you from doing the same thing!
