Nelson’s response is actually a valid one. A green-peel zucchini can make one think of a cucumber.
The shape of the vegetable made me think of a bird that looks like a crow, that includes ravens, too.
I have never eaten a crow or a raven; but, I have eaten a blackbird and dumplings dish. I went home with a poor family after church and they had a son who was in my grade school class and also in the same Sunday School class.
I don’t remember what we had for Sunday dinner; but, when one of the older sons told the parents about a large flock of blackbirds out on the barnyard fence, the ones who had shot guns went out their and killed quite a few.
So for Sunday supper (before church that evening), the mother fixed blackbird and dumplings. It was like eating chicken and dumplings made with dark meat. It was very good, too.
