I thought the Pickles were too old fashioned to have a
computer.

It’s probably not a Vista.

Hey, I’m 68, have Vista and am a computer geek. Us oldies are pretty handy with these things. Remember, it was our generation who brought them out of the massive to PC. In fact, I have 3 of them, all Vista and not all that interested in Windows 7..

Too many older people don’t want to bother with computers but I tell them they don’t know what they’re missing.
Opal should tell Nelson by the time she dies her computer will be obsolete.

If it’s a PC it’ll die long before Pearl does. If it’s a MAC it could definitely outlast her

The computer will be obsolete by the time Opal’s estate is settled. Hoepfully she has a positive net worth so that the computer isn’t liquidated to pay off the debt.

I’m 62, and a geekwad of the first order, with Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit on a quad-core. I’ll get Windows 7 as OEM on my next PC. Why do you people upgrade before the first Service Release, anyway?

My 85 year-old father uses his computer everyday.

Wow - I remember having a convrsation a lot like this with Aunt Myrtie, including the punch line. I never did get her record player.

My 80 yr old Dad has an HP HDX 18 and an HP MINI MIE both running Ubuntu. He just laughs at old pharts that are stuck on Windows and Mac.
Apparently Nelson is getting ready to write a powerful Perl script…..

If you were to go buy a brand new computer this afternoon and the store clerk claimed that all of the programs in it are up to date, when you got home and after you got it unpacked and hooked it up and connected it to the internet, quite a few of the programs would have to be updated.
I am going to stay away from Windows 7 until I buy a new computer.
I have a digital monitor for my computer. But, I don’t have anything digital hooked up to it. So, I just see everything in wide screen analog.
The monitor in the comic seems to have at least a 26 inch screen.
I told a Walmart employee yesterday that they shouldn’t be using the old analog TV screen measurements for the new HDTVs. The analog measurement is based on a round screen video tube.
He did point out that some of the TVs on display have the width and height measurements listed on the shelves.
I use a cane and I showed him how wide the set could be and still fit into the TV shelf of the entertainment center I have at home. I do plan on buying an HDTV in the spring.
That screen width would be one sold as a “26 inch” one.

I’m 59.75 and use Windows XP. Never bought the Vista hype, so never had problems.

My grandson axed me, “Can I have your puter when you die, gramps?
I said, “Sure, little buddy, but i got a while to go, yet. Can ya wait?”
He said, “I guess so, if I gotta. You gonna be long?”
Ya know?”
