I named a cat after my best friend. He hates it (my friend, not the cat. He won’t come to his name, just the can opener)

In my childhood we had a crow named Joe and a turtle named Myrtle. (We assumed Myrtle was female just to have the name.)
Lewd-reader: Your friend comes to the can opener but not his name? Strange friend you have there. :-)

My mom had a dog as a child that they named after the preacher. (I don’t know if it was meant as a compliment or an insult.)

My father’s father’s (my grandpa) middle name was Earl (Loyd Earl Slagle). I am sure he was proud of that name.

Hey Earl be happy the kid doesn’t want a pet burro or maybe when he grows up and has a family he’ll name his little girl Earl,
I once knew a man with the last name of Shue and he named his dogs Tennis and Horse………..

Duke, Duke, Duke of Earl, Duke, Duke, Duke of Earl…. ah - loved that song back in the early 60’s.
Wonder if Opal had that song in mind when she married Earl - she musta been quite a girl to fall for Earl:-)

Well the first line is from memory - the second line is a small attempt to be a poet - but you wouldn’t know it ;-D
(I know, it’s old) ;-)

In what universe does Squirrel rhyme with Earl?
Must be an American thing. (I am British)
