There are actually sites that are pretty useful in treating something one has already been diagnosed with. Mayo clinic has some excellent explanatory material. For nutrition, the Linus Pauling site has a large collection of studies on everything from vitamins to supplements. John Hopkins has an extensive library.
.
It’s regrettable, but with so many doctors being incompetent or just plain wrong, one has to look things up. The key is to be careful about your sources.
.
For example, I was diagnosed with a “heart” problem. There was that little voice in the back of the mind that they’d gotten it wrong because of the difference between what I could observe and what they were telling me. Nor did the meds prescribed do me any good— they made things worse. Turns out I had pneumonia. For FOUR months, that no one had noticed. Pretty poor showing. Sometimes you have to question what the docs tell you as they can blow it and blow it badly.
