The question was raised: Ladywolf brings up a really good question. Why did the military insist on the Hummer for use as a troop personnel carrier, rather than the M-2 or older M113, of which we have thousands? It never made any sense at all and still doesn’t.

Nothing goes on over in D.C. that isn’t controlled by political meddling.

I always find it funny how Politician A, who doesn’t like something that Politician B is doing, and will make the (utterly accurate) claim that Politician B is only doing it for political reasons.

Skyhawk; Unca: The difference between the Humvee and the M-113 is about 45 MPH, which is reason enough to ue them instead of the tracked M113 because the Army, out of necessity, must travel at the rate of the slowest vehicle. The M-113, irt, will barely reach 14 MPH.

I could, of course, be wrong, but I have been studying up on these things in case I ever get called as a contestant on Tommy’s game show, should he survive to host another one.
