While not exactly an avian study, Sisyphos, the observation would be consistent with any nature study conducted by members of the Audubon Society. Perhaps a discreet rename of the folder?
Awww! AmriloJim, you’ve shamed me into coming clean. The true name of the Folder in question here is PibBirdersIgor (from which you can easily enough deduce its contents)….
♫ Esperanto is the loving tongue,
Soft as music, light as spray:
‘Twas a girl I learned it from,
Living down Sonora way.
I don’t look much like a lover,
Yet I say her love words over,
Often when I’m all alone –
Bleep di bleep, bleep bleep di bleep♫
While waiting, I followed someone’s video recommendation to the Due South tune Ride Forever, then was moved to see if James Keelghan is on YouTube. The pice I was lookingfor isn’t there, but there is a kinda cheesy video to go with Red River Rising, which is NOT about a spring flood in southern Manitoba. And because his occasional musical partner Oscar Lopez is so, *so* good, here’s a link to a Lopez guitar piece from the Canmore Folk Festival a couple of years ago.
Today’s strip reminds me of the old Raid commercials.
Be nice if we knew how it happened. Or even what happened, for that matter. The imagery was vivid, but was the stuff of speculation as to what actually happened.
(Dru stuck, Satori filled up with something white (presumably energy or somesuch), Satori shot and slashed. Big boom. Shockwave. The two recurring commenters reappear.)
how can a demon, something that doesn’t have a life to start with, die?
That which has no life can still be destroyed. According to teaching, they will be destroyed in a lake of fire (nowhere does it say they will exist in hell or be hell’s jailers etc.,)
Apparently, they are in a state of consciousness if you can call it that:
10 And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
Rev 20:10 (NASB)
I’m not looking forward to writing about that when the time comes in the book series. Brrrr.
If you do a search for a topic, chances are that “Off the Mark” might have done something related to it. Cats, for example, will get you a LOT of pages of cartoons.
I notice the ordinary denizens of New York seem unaffected by all the recent events (or are these ordinary denizens? They certainly have the attitude I know so well….)
Feeling a little obtuse here (which can hurt at my age). Are the demons being shoved forward into a veritable dung-heap of demon pulp, or are they being sucked backwards into a Hoover of light?
Difficult to say, actually…. I thought they were being mown down, but perhaps they are being sucked in - the two gentlemen don’t help as their direction of attention changes…
I think that the blast, powerful as it is, only affects non-corporeal beings. So the demons are being destroyed, but the wave passes through everything else.
The word that we have is that the force was expanding, so it makes sense to think it is blasting away from the centre
That lake of fire you mentioned - would that be Mt. Doom in Mordor?”
He–, sir.
On a lighter note, though, there are some pretty warm lakes. There’s a Hot Lake near LeGrande Oregon. Never guess how it gets its name. Used to have a resort.
There are 7,000+ thermal springs in Oregon. Most are in Harney and Lake Counties. Remnants of volcanic activity. They range in temp from 70 degrees to boiling.
Plenty of black smokers and thousands of active seamounts off the Oregon Coast, particularly in the area called the Cape Blanco Fracture Zone. In 2002, a hydrogen sulfide cloud came ashore and made it really interesting for the SW Oregon coastal town of Brookings. They had to avoid the beaches for a time. A “Dead Zone” of dead area covered with sulfur has cropped up in the last 5 years. Bacteria that eat HS gas dissolved in the water laid an inch and more of sulfur on the continental shelf. Looks macabre in the video, with miles of sulfur-covered corpses. (Of course, the econuts blame man for it). What’s really interesting is that one of the videos had what looked like a man-made tool on it.
Here’s a gigantic geologic map from Dog Am I (Oregon Department Of Geology And Mineral Industries) of the ocean floor off of the Oregon coast. Takes a bit to load. PDF format. Free from Oregon’s DOGAMI.
Yep, Yellowstone is a so-called supervolcano. There is another magma chamber of comparable size in Washington State. Which must make them really happy. St. Helens was probably enough.
Today’s “Wapsi Square” continues the theme of nobody getting any sleep.
Shelly’s expressions in panels Five and Seven are priceless.
It’s a good thing for Bud that she’s indestructible and sock-repaired near omnipotent, because otherwise her perkiness and general pollyannism would get her killed … fast!
A fantastic saga of adventure both high and low, of forbidden passion and iambic pentameter, of fays, fools, organists, demons, accordions, heaven, hell and Shakespeare, Pibgorn follows the whims and flights of its eponymous fairy heroine as she plies her conviction that there must be more to life than depositing dew drops on dandelions and sleeping under mushrooms.

So it’s only a teenage demon wasteland…
I sure am relieved! I thought New York City - to say nothing of much of Long Island, New Jersey and civilization as we know it - was a goner.
Instead, some sort of cosmic clean-up, albeit with an appalling demon-pup body count, is taking place.
The result? As they like to say on TV trailers: “Everything has changed! Nothing will ever be the same!”
Except that, as far as we know…Drusilla is still dead…
