Pib: Wow! Pretty heady stuff. Not nearly as inconsequential as I thought it would be! So that’s what all those little black buggers were. And she doesn’t look the least bit pregnant now. Doesn’t bode well for us humans, does it…

I H8 the common cold.
here’s why:

It’s never a good thing when you are in the news because of a rare disease…
What is funny about the mention of measles in the article is that they never asked me about the measles. I had both kinds- rubella and rubeola- plus scarlatina as a kid…

If you have a recurrance of the same or a similar problem, I would suggest re-booting into “Safe Mode” (hold down F8 while booting until options screen comes up, select “safe Mode”) and running scans in both Norton and SMart Security. (1 at a time, please)
Fer Shure.
And do not run two active anti-virus programs (i.e., Norton and AVG, or Symantec and Avira or …) at the same time.

This isn’t nearly as gross as “Aliens”, but when Buster Keaton filmed his classic silent movie, “The General”, he didn’t warn the actors playing pursuing Union cavalry that they were going to pull down a bridge that a locomotive was crossing.
Speaking of bridge demolitions in movies - so far as i know, the bridge demolition sequence in Sergio Leone’s Duck You Sucker was at the time (and may still be) the largest full-scale explosive demolition sequence ever filmed.

“As we have some computer programmers here - does anyone know a simple-minded version of BASIC that works in XP?”
I have not seen any versions of BASIC that are designed to work in any windows-based system, they all work in DOS, as far as I know. Interesting question tho, I’m off to research
Quite a few, actually.
Check this site which also lists free Pascal and C++ compilers. (I think some of the BASIC implemantations for Windows are compilers, producing executable code, rather than interpreters doing line-by-line parsing.)

Or Tommy T… yes it is a great drawing.
But why are the “black spikey things” now bright sparkly things? - unless the reveal behind the curtain was a negative image.
On a positive note: no IE hang-ups for 12 hours!

I like the Save 2nd Base t-shirts.
(Although to tell a joke on my self…
The first time I saw the “Save Second Base” t-shirt, it just had the slogan, no illustration. Took me about 30 minutes to get it - I thought they were talking about a baseball field or something…)

Thankfully, scientists and docs are close to the exact mechanism for why cancer cells go nuts and divide in 3s, 5s, 7s, etc., without normal restraints. Give cancer less than 15 years if things keep progressing as they have been.

We’re still watching - and listening to caustic comments upon - the events leading up to the beginning of the story-arc, Dru’s death-dive. This is still Tom’s narration.
What I don’t get - and I really don’t get it - is the third panel. If Dru ‘cured’ Geoff’s cold, and he got all happy and congestion-free…how did he end up in a glacier in Antarctica? Why was she in that pose of grief yeaterday? Why did she end up in New York City, doing a kamikaze into the sidewalk near Lenox Hill Hospital? And who was this other female demon, who was just introduced by narrative - not a visual - from deep left field? A female demon who just happened to plant demon spawn in human nasal passages a few hundred years ago?
There is much left to be explained here…and with a cliffhanger approaching, too…

I remember when it came barely to her hips, then below hips and above knees, then below knees, but the last few days it’s been so long she can STAND on it.

Well I think it would rather peculiar if her her was getting shorter don’t you? Hair does tend to grow y’know.
I mean of course, unless she went to a hair stylist –
It reminds of what I like to say to people when it’s raining. Inevitably, somebody will say, quote, “Look at it coming down!”
To which I will respond, quote, “Yah, wow, and look! There’s a batch going back up!”

Oh, that’s evil.
For our fifth (or was it the tenth), my first wife got me a shirt that simply said “Let go of my ears - I know what I’m doing.”
There’s a greeat story about someone who “got” it immediately, and someone who didn’t … but i don’t have the energy to tell it right now.

Hmm, well, for the 20% or so of guys in high school and college that most of the girls were all chasing, I think that was first base. For the rest of us, it would be more like 9th inning plus 3 or 4 overtime innings.

Actually, I should tell the rest of that gag – the funny part is, after I remark about rain going back up, the other person will inevitably do a double-take and say something like, ”Where??”
About half a second later, they come back to their senses –
