Meanwhile, Goeff and Maurice are doing … what? in reference to the frozen and vulnerable Pib?

LOVE FOR ALL ETERNITY
By ladywolf17
Part Five
Aaric watched as Big John walked back to the kingdom. Then he decided to continue on his way to his mother’s house. As he made his way to the field of white lilies he stopped and looked at the field where he had
buried his wife. There she was! Standing there and looking at him was the spirit of his wife. She was a vision of loveliness. He went to her, for even in death she was still a comfort to him. Tameara could see that
her husband’s mind was troubled. She took Aaric into her arms and held him in a loving embrace. “Be strong my love, and remember that our love shall last for all eternity.” Tameara said as she bent over and gave her husband a kiss. After Tameara vanished, Aaric continued on to his mother’s house.
Aaric’s mother who was the queen of Averlon, even though she no longer lived in the palace with her husband was outside in front of her house looking up at the stars. Aaric’s mother Queen Abigail greeted her son as
he walked up to her. “It is good to see you again mother.” Aaric said as he went up to her and gave her a hug.
Queen Abigail and her son went into the house and sat down in the den. She called for one of her servants to bring a couple of cups of tea. As they began to talk, Queen
Abigail noticed that her son’s mood was not his usual happy self. She decided to ask him what was wrong. Aaric explained to her all that had
gone down between his wife Princess Tameara, and his father. “You poor dear! it is not fair for you to have to suffer like this. Your father is a foolish man, especially making you his enemy.” She said to her son.
The servant came in and handed both Aaric and his mother their tea. “Mother, can I stay here for the night.” Arric asked and took a sip of his tea. Queen Abigail looked at her son and smiled. “Yes! of course you can stay.” she
said and instructed her servant to get the guest room ready for her son. The servant bowed and went about doing as he was told.
Fifteen minutes later the servant came back to the den and informed the queen that the guest rom was ready. Aaric kissed his mother and said good night. He
went into the guet room and closed the door. Instead of going to sleep, he sat at the desk and began to write a couple of letters that would soon be important.
After a few good hours asleep Aaric got up from the bed. He took both of the letters with him and made his way into his mother’s room where she lay sound asleep. He placed the envelope that said Mother on her dresser against the mirror. Aaric quietly closed her bedroom door and walked out to the living room. He then opened up the
front door and left into the early morning air.
TO BE CONCLUDED.

I’ve looked back at 9CWL, and think I may have done Seth an injustice in referring to superciliousness in an earlier comment. He may have more profound motives for not monogramming the guest-pillowcases with Mary’s name: he is very aware of relationships (past or present) and their implications!

Speaking of the Global Warming question - an AP story and another about the same findings.
In essence, the findings indicate that there indeed should be an overall cooling trend due to long-term variance in solar irradiation (The cyce is 21,000 years, and the decline has been happening for about 8000 years).
However, the cyce should lead to a cooling trend in the Arctic continuing for about another 4000 years before the cycle swings the other way … and it isn’t.
In fact, the temperature trend reversed about a hundred years ago - and summer temps in the Arctic for the last decade are the warmest they’ve been in two millenia.
And continue to increase.

I emailed Toni Weisskopf, the editor there who i’ve known since she was (oh, lord) eighteen, but she hasn’t answered.
Ironically, there’s a good chance she’s in Atlanta for Dragon*Con this weekend, and out of immediate communication.
I’ll let you know immediately i hear anything from her.

If ever you’re in County Meath in Ireland, you may bump into Seamus O’Flaherty. He’ll be the one in the pub. An expert in everything is our Seamus. Or so he thinks. Whatever you do, don’t take directions off of him. O’Flaherty will get you nowhere.

“Spanish Flea”
I think the TJB’s “Taste of Honey” was a cover.
And groups named for insects - The Cockroaches: the Rolling Stones cover ID for the show they did at Atlanta’s 3500-seat Fox Theatre to kick off a tour in the 1980s - the rest of the tour was arenas and stadiums.
And the tickets for that gig were something like one-third the tickets for the rest of the shows on the tour.
Tickets had been on sale for a day or two when word got out as to who it really was…

Spiders aren’t insects, so they don’t count — And if Cricket (from sport) doesn’t then the Beatles are questionable.

It was a SUnday afternoon in the middle of December. Hazel was so excited, all she could think of was her new job. No more teaching sniffly, screaming children. Her future was the fashion industry for a craeer in fabric production. Her head was filled with ideas for new colour combinations. For days now her food had gone uneaten and her untouched coffee went cold. Then she had a phone call from her best friend at the school.
“Hazel, we need you at the nativity.”
“I’m finished with school. I start my new job tomorrow.”
“Please. The person that was to play Mary has taken sick. We need you to replace her. You did it last year.”
“Please, don’t ask me. I’m feeling rough at the moment as it is.”
“I know how excited you must be. Have you been starving yourself? You do that when you’re anxious.”
“Yes. I haven’t had a thing for three days.”
“Please, Hazel. Just for me. Eat, drink and be Mary, for tomorrow you dye.”

I am trying to remember a fantasy story. It concerns a man with extraordinary luck. He has what looks like a doll house. Children investigate it and find it contains fairy people who disappear. The man remains lucky, but it is messy last-minue luck. This is because some rougher, lazier fairies have moved into the house.
Any ideas what I am talking about or who wrote it? I think it may have been someone more noted for science fiction.

@Sisyphos and KalahariNights (from last night)
I think your first doctor is very much you best doctor, and its always hard to warm as much to the others - I never warmed to Colin Baker, for instance, but then I never actually saw him much - his tenure happened at a time I was too busy to take in any telly at all. During that era I lived literally out of a suitcase, being on the road some 250 days of the year.
I urge you to hang in there with the David Tennant episodes, some of the finest writing and acting goes on in the Martha Jones era (available of DVD) - in fact, one episode, “Blink” won not only the BAFTA but also the HUGO - the first time a script from a British TV show ever won it.(“Don’t Blink. Blink and you’re dead. Don’t turn your back. Don’t look away. And don’t Blink. Good Luck.” )
There is a marvellous journey of the soul and of healing in this story arc, and also terrible hardships and epics ideas and stories. Well worth it on every count - by the end of the Martha Jones series, he’ll be your favourite doctor of all. And I challenge any of you not to be reduced to tears by the last fifteen minutes of the episode “Family of Blood”.

Glad you liked Lebekaese. As good as it is in Zurich, I can’t ever wait until I get to either Konstanz or Munich and have some there - they do the best of any country. There’s a great little place in Vienna that does some really exceptional Lebekaese as well…

“Blink” has been pretty universally hailed as having the highest behind-the-couch factor since “Terror of the Autons”.
And the great thing is, it’s essentially minus the Doctor and Martha, because they were filming the season-ender.
I really want to have a word with the happy so-and-so who had the bright idea of including fifteen seconds of shots of every stone angel in Cardiff to end it.
