By the silken breast of Mogg’s mother… what a vision! Roger appears to be doing a bit of quick re-programming on a PADD, which fact I missed the first time around, my attention being elsewhere.

The sleeves appear to fit the previous panels…

I think I’m turning Japanese, I really think so!

So Satori traded her scimitar in for a katana, dumped the Sam Browne belt, and, most significantly, traded in her pseudo-buccaneer duds for an elegant wrap-around kimono look.

Where can I get a hand-held computer like Roger has? I’ve stubbornly hung onto my Sony Clie PDA because there really isn’t anything that’s replaced it. iPhones and all the rest of the text-message-centric phones just don’t cut it for me.

What a Monday page! As Roger and Lena watch the flames (panel 1), he whips out his hand-held and casts a binary spell (panel 2), so that as the once-Satori immolates (panel 3), the new Satori emerges in fabulous eastern splendor, and with a fine blade at her side, to boot (and did I take note of the boots? You betcha!) (panel 4: a prizewinner)!

Whoever mentioned the anime heroines of Matsumoto “yesterday” may have been right on the money.

Is it just me or does she actual;ly look sort of “oriental” in the third panel?

And we now know whose hand/bloused sleeve that was. (And, i guess, what the “black stuff” on/around Satori-in-transit’s hands was.)

Another thing someone said that i wonder about - now that Satori sees Roger and Lena in the “real world”, how will she feel about them/Roger?

Absolute concurrence on your second point.

As to your first, however, considering that it was Satori’s hand, already in the present outfit, that pulled Roger and Lena out of the fire, i’m not too sure he is rescuing her.

As to the boots - aren’t they the same ones as bfore, just worn over back tights rather than thos gray pants?

Hmmm - differences between sketch and finish.

Interesting change in panel three - perhaps Brooke felt the version in the sketch looked too much like Friday’s final panel?

Part One

The streets of the Averlon Kingdom were packed full of people cheering, as a coach carrying Prince Aaric pulled up to the palace entrance. Guards took up their position to hold back the mob of the so called happy-greeters that were eager to see the prince. As Prince Aaric climbed out of the coach, everyone could see that he was not alone. A
hush fell over the crowd. They watched with fascination as the prince began helping a young woman out of the coach. Men, women, and children stood in awe as they gazed upon her. She was beautiful.

The doors of the palace swung open and out came King Eerolden in all of his glory. The king gave his son a hug, then looked at the young woman next to Aaric. “Now who is this young beauty that I see standing before
me?” said the king as he bent down and kissed the woman on the hand. “Father! I’d like you to meet my wife, Lady Tameara.” Prince Aaric said, as Lady Tameara gave the king a courtesy bow. The king instructed his
guards to carry the luggage up to his son’s quarters. He then went back into his palace.

Night had come to the Kingdom Of Averlon. King Eerolden was delighted that His son Aaric and his new wife Lady Tameara had joined him for dinner. They ate, drank, and laughed as they talked about how the prince’s journey went.

After the dinner was finished, The king said good night and went to bed. Prince Aaric and his wife decided to take an evening walk. Together, hand in hand they walked along a path that led them to a field of wild flowers
that Lady Tameara recognized to be white lilies. They reached an old oak tree, and watched as the stars came out. Love filled the night sky as Prince Aaric and his wife undressed each other. They then held each other in
a loving embrace. “Let us promise each other that no matter what happens in our life, we will forever love each other for all eternity.” Prince Aaric said, lovingly caressing his wife into a playful giggle. Lady Tameara looked at her husband ,then said in a soft gentle voice that only he could here, ” As god is our witness, I pledge to you that our
love will be forever in eternity.” No more words were needed as they proceeded on with their love-making under a full moon.

Morning came, as the sun rose over the mountains in the east. Prince Aaric, already awake and dressed watched over his wife as she slept. Finally! Tameara stirred
in her sleep and began to wake up. “You are a vision of loveliness, like an angel from Heaven.” Prince Aaric said to his wife as she got up and finished dressing. Lady Tameara’s cheeks blushed as Prince Aaric took her into
his arms and kissed her. Then together, hand in hand they walked back to the palace.

A guard came running up, as Prince Aaric and Lady Tameara entered the gates to the the palace grounds. “Thank heavens! that you both have returned. The king was going to have my head if I couldn’t find you.” the guard
said thanking God that he would be able to keep his head a little while longer. “you are to report to the Counsel Room as soon as possible.” the guard said, then went back to his post. Prince Aaric turned to his wife, holding her hands, he told her to go mingle with the people and to enjoy herself.

He hoped that the counsel meeting wouldn’t be long. Prince Aaric had no tolerance and would get bored really quick if the counsel meeting took forever. “What is this counsel meeting about father?” Prince Aaric asked, barely showing any interest whatsoever. “Why of course! The Coronation of your wife to become Princess Tameara of the Averlon Kingdom.” That was enough to get Prince Aaric interested.

Lady Tameara talked to many people that were out and about. She learned a great many things about the Kingdom Of Averlon. The one thing that disturbed her
however, was finding out that the women of Averlon had no rights of their own. They were marked as property by their men, and had to do as they were told. Lady Tameara was determined to change all of that, once she was given the title of Princess.

Two days passed. A large crowd gathering turned out for the special coronation ceremony. The king said a few words then gave the title of Princess to Tameara. The crowd of people cheered as a crown was placed on Tameara’s head. She was now Princess Tameara of the Averlon Kingdom.

After the coronation ceremony concluded, the festivities began. Fireworks shot forth into the night’s sky, attracting everyone, from the adults to the children. There was music and dancing, and Tables were filled with the finest food and drinks from the royal kitchen.This indeed! was a wonderful night, so the newly crowned Princess Tameara put her troubled mind to rest, and enjoyed the festivities.

Are the red sparklies a pattern on her kimono, or are the fire sparks?

(If they are - as they appear to me to be - a pattern on the kimono, i hope Honorable Master’s software is capable of taking a flat image and mapping it to a surface (as was done for the Magic Carpet in Disney’s Alladdin..

Wow! Samauri Satori!

And yes, I think the last panel of Friday’ strip plus the first three today indicate Satori was perishing in the flames before Roger tweaked the program.

I prefer a machira, scutum and armor, plus the training the men usually got in using them to a Satori and Katana if it came to actual hand to hand without modern weapons. The Romans routinely won battles against ten to thirty times their number. (And of course some disasters like the Teutoberg Forest). Much of it was due to taking 5 years to train each legionnaire. Romans were encouraged to add to their armor, so some incorporated things they’d learned from the Celts, like pieces of mail.

Oh, no doubt that I’d prefer modern weapons!!
I said, if I had to do “hand to hand without modern weapons.”

Man’s learned more about the evil “art” of killing his fellow man from 1860 to now than in the previous five millenia.

Even what we consider primitive muzzle-loading rifles like those of the Civil War before the cartridge started being adopted in 1862 or so were accurate to 250 yards. Nothing before than could compare. Bows, crossbows, all fell short.

So Satori is resurrected from the flames…and her shamshir (the blade she was packing before) is now a samurai’s katana..and she’s lookin’ mighty fine (the Master’s fashion sense here is a little better than impeccable)…but I’m not so sure I like that look in her eye…

And a major question remains: Where are they?

(I meant Roman Government Issue; the pilum,or throwing lance (some would say “heavy javelin”), was the principal infantry weapon, while swords–mainly the gladium, but any variety included–were secondary.)

Bows were a problem, then. Shield lock was one of the things that they trained to do.

Hey peeps - I have committed a flicker pic.

And remember the Flicker Index for a list of all of theones i’ve done so far.

(I have made a simply indescribably lovely background from the logo for the webcomic Sparkling Generation Valkyrie Yuuki - the click-through target of tonight’s flicker - that would be perfect here, but i decided at the last moment tonot use it, because i had no idea how the creator might feel.

(However, i’m going to e-mail SGVY’s creator and ask if she minds if i use it for a future flicker; i would be willing to bet that there will be future times when a manga-style background showing a sexy female warrior will be appropriate.

(For this one i re-used an old BG that seemed appropriate.)

I went back and did it. It took some work to remove Gnat’s drooling face from the picture and some of the framing, but here it is at the max resolution that gocomics uses:
