So, depending on how you read the panels, Satori made it through only to find herself in the fire, or she passed through the fire like the Egg children, and now stands gazing down upon them… in her unadorned state?
A number of resources have been provided by members of the Order of the Couch, and links can be found here For registration assistance, go to: http://marmoe.livejournal.com/34590.html
Okay, I just got done catching up on last week - I noticed that it was blessedly quiet. All the negative and psycho posters have vanished. Uhhhh…. was there some sort of big blow-up like we had over at brand X or something?
As much as I don’t like the last frame, it is sorta logical…
Satori exists in the program
She could use the portal to jump
The portal was created by the program
The program runs on the computer minotaur
The screen & PC are being destroyed by the lava
As they burn and the program halts, so does Satori
So she is being terminated by the fire as it fries the PC
Because:
She doesn’t seem to be burning!!! Blown by a wind or sucked back through the portal as it vanishes, maybe; but it doesn’t look like pain or suffering in panel 4 or 5.
Panels 1 and 2: a mighty statement of Mighty Dru!
3,4. The Eggs are safely laid upon the greensward.
5, 6. Satori made it through the portal; but (depending on order of reading) either ended in flames or was purged of something passing through them….
I at first thought she had ended in the fire, until The Old Wolf’s post alerted me to the possible alternate ordering of the final panels. In the long view, she will no doubt survive in some fashion (or, depending on one’s understanding of fashion, none)….
I’m just dropping in for the moment to see how you all are. I am not here to tell you a story tonight (I know, what a bummer). Anyways I want you all to know that I am thinking about each and everyone of you. and hopefully soon I will be back with my new story to tell you all.
Examining the panels (for the about the 14th time) I’m not so sure it was Satori who did the rescuing:
A). Satori - up until now, at least - cannot fly.
B). Roger and Lena don’t look happy to see their rescuer at all; you’d think they would, if it was Satori.
C). I’m not even certain she’s at the same place they are. Something took them out of the flre…and she’s engulfed in it.
Ergo: This is a true Cliffhanger. We’re not even precisely sure what cliff we’re hanging off…especially as far as Dru is concerned. What’s with the white light?

Spectacular! But what does it MEAN?!
Means we have ALLLlllll weekend to be confused and probably not get hardly any answers next week!!
whimpers…heads for the corner of the couch with thumb in mouth
Nah, jump in the pool or hot tub, then the drool from the thumb isn’t so noticable… besides didn’t someone just get the couch cleaned?? Did they Sctchguard it?
Good to see that Satori made it through, but that still leaves more questions doesn’t it, like if Satori was created by a computer program, how long will she be able to maintain her new form. and what is next for our heros. I could go on but we’re confused as it is, so I won’t.
Omar (who died from the effects of Agatha’s brooch) appears to be Agatha’s height or a bit taller, and Moloch seems to be about the same height, though it’s hard to tell for sure since he spends most of the sequence sitting on a rain barel…
For dinner tonight, i made “French Hamburgers”, a recipe from the Food Stamp Gourmet. (The book mentions that the dish was originally made with steak, but that since the whole purpose of the book is to eat well but cheap…)
You need one or two pounds of ground beef
half a cup of chopped green onions
butter and 1/4 cup white wine.
I made three large patties out of half of a 5-pound roll of ground beef.
Melt butter in a skillet, fry the meat over medium-high heat.
Remove themeat to a plate in a 150 - 200 degree oven to stay warm.
Pour off some of the fat; leave enough to cook the onion in.
Turn the heat up to high, toss in theonios, stir them around. You don’t want to cook them fully, just get them beginning to soften and maybe caramelize a bit.
Pour the wine into the pan, stir thoroughly.
Use a nylon or wood spon or spatula to deglaze the pan (scrape all the remaining meat juices off the bottom into the wine).
Keep stirring till it begins to thicken and become sort of syrupy; reduce heat to low to keep it warm.
Congratulations; you have made a sauce Bercy.
Get the plate with the meat out of the oven - likely some more juice will have accumulated on the plate, stir that into the sauce as well.
Put the patties on individual plates, pour the sauce over them, serve with something with some starch in it and maybe a green vegetable. (We had boiled potatos with dill butter.)
I’d love to find someone like Agatha Heterodyne. Not too many mad scientists like me around…
Put it this way: Right now, I’m typing on a computer that I built from parts. At the moment, it has 2 terabyte drives that I put in several months ago. I have an unusual portable flashlight behind me that I use that I built last year and upgraded this year that is made from 100 candle LEDs and is mounted in a glorified vitamin bottle, complete with surplus AA battery holders glued in with Shoe Goo and the wires soldered with 1970s vintage 50/50 electric solder that I inherited. I had a problem with waste heat for the computer, so I drilled holes in the case and secured 120mm fans to the outside to pull air out and push air in at different points. Looks a sight. The speakers I put back together a couple of days ago, when I had to permanently disconnect the malfcunctioning subwoofer and resolder one of the capacitors back into the board. (The chinese factory who assembled the board did an… interesting… job. I’ve never seen so many loose connections before. Never buy Cyber Acoustics!). I have everything from battery chargers to shortwave radios to photo scanners to printers to 2 more computers, hardware, software, bits of wire and other electronics in boxes, reference books, devices I haven’t fixed yet and a metronome all sitting within about 6 feet of me. Muwahahahahahaha!!!!
To top it all off- and this is something that I NEVER would normally even think of, but desperation is a heck of an incentive. I’ve been fighting a Heliobacter Pylori infection for almost 3 months. Finished a course of antibiotics last week and all it did was create a neat ol’ superbug. Not many options at this point, so I’ve been researching the matter for a solution. Certain wavelengths of visible light kill the stuff en masse. Blue to violet. So, I’d been figuring out how to deliver it and not make myself sick at the same time. PTFE is HCL proof, biologically safe and there are several suppliers of 5mm and smaller material that can be fabricated into capsules. (It’s cheap, too). 3mm LEDs that put out 10 candles in the 400 to 465 nm range are available and fairly cheap. The big problem is batteries. Everything 3mm or so (gotta be able to swallow it!) is 1.55 or 3 volt. LEDs are 3.2 to 3.8 volts. Small batteries can be stacked for greater voltage, but that requires a resistor. The available ones are too large. So, it will take some more time to come up with a solution to that…
Satori goes through the portal, and de-pixalates. A sleeved hand pulls Lena and Roger back from the flames and into the portal again. Satori re-emerges.
There’s a BIG cliffhaner in the works tomorrow!
Something is really odd here – remember the Watcher in the shadows in the early stages of the previous story arch? The one who had a red jacket similar to the one Roger is wearing?
I think Satori is not truly a creation of the game world. She’s something different, not just a summation of 0’s and 1’s.
And what about Dru? She just plasma blasted everything into whiteness. Did Nat manage to snap her out of her dream induced state?
Who or what is Nat? He was blasted away in the Borgio story arch and came back, no explanation how he did it. In this story arch he blasted himself and came back.
Hi there. I’m looking forward to reading your next story. Don’t worry too much about speling and grammar. It’s the story first, then its the preesentation.
That tango vid is amazing! Impressive leg kicks all the more astounding considering the sky-high heels she’s wearing. And that’s about as sensuous a dance as they can do while still dressed.
What did we see when/if the strip/page updates tonight?
9 Chickweed Lane: .1. If the bleachers are Rockin’… Give a CHEER!
.2. Paradise by the dashboard light.
.3. It’s another Tequilla Sunrise. .4. Total Eclipse of the Heart.
.5. Blame it on Midnight.
.6. Twist and shout.
.7. Emotional Rescue.
.8. What a fool believes.
How did I know that music would feature in today’s 9CWL?
Pibgorn: .1. The rescuer is: A) Satori, B) Pibgorn, C) Oognat, D) Mother, E) Father, F) another Roger.
.2. The Volcano: A) Blows up, B) Goes quiet, C) Shrinks, D) Turns to sparklies, E) Vanishes.
.3. Pibgorn wakes up Geoff and Maurice.
.4. Oognat walks off with wolf.
.5. News choppers in the air covering developments.
.6. News anchor with more teeth than IQ reporting update on: A) Volcano, B) Mid-Atlantic Tsunami, C) Death of a Codpiece Model, D) Hair implants for bald babies, E) Yanks/BoSox Box Scores.
.7. Drucilla at FULL power(SCARY)! .8. Meet the new boss.
.9. Same as the old boss.
.10. We don’t get fooled again!
.11. I met her in a club down in old Java, where you drink champagne
.12. and it tastes just like molten lava, L-a-v-a, lava.
.13. She walked up to me and she asked me to dance.
.14. I asked her her name and in a hot red voice she said Lava,
L-a-v-a Lava, La-la-la-la Lava.
In panel 1, Dru discharges fearsome plasma-power, blasting in seemingly all directions; in panel 2, her smoking fingertips are like the smoking gun barrels of a B-western.
Meanwhile, down to earth, in panel 3 the Eggs drop to a grassy landing-zone that shows an eerie reflection of hellfire, and in panel 4, on a now-becalmed grey-green turf they look back upward, at ?
The order of the remaining pair of panels is vexing. I initially read down, then right (with Satori left in the flames); then, The Old Wolf’s suggestion led me to try it the other way around–right, then down, with Satori passing through the flames to emerge and (in a tight head-shot) herself look downward….
Now, looking at the structure of the panels and their framing, and reconsidering, I am inclined to revert to my original reading; Satori in panel 5 looking down (at the now-safe Eggs, who look up in panel 4 at her?), and then suddenly being caught in an explosive updraft of flame: our true cliffhanger!
So much hard thinking, so little certainty! Cushion 777 of the Comfy Couch of Confusion, here I come!
Re 9CL: oh but they look good together! What a pose, Edda… But the dress is too short (I can’t BELIEVE I’m saying that!). AMos wears the fedora as well as Nat.(Concentrate on the fedora, Self, and stop drooling on the keyoard)
Tallwoman: Nice to see you again! I hope things are going well at your section of the couch.
Ladywolf: Nice to see you, too. I don’t need your stories, as enjoyable as they are; your presence and comments are enough. Mind you, the stories make great icing. :)
Wolfbyte: Mind sending one of those digits to Saskatchewan? Our summer has been average temperature, but not above average many days, and I miss HOT weather.
I’m also missing my bed, so good night all. I shall dream of tangos and hiiiigh heels
A fantastic saga of adventure both high and low, of forbidden passion and iambic pentameter, of fays, fools, organists, demons, accordions, heaven, hell and Shakespeare, Pibgorn follows the whims and flights of its eponymous fairy heroine as she plies her conviction that there must be more to life than depositing dew drops on dandelions and sleeping under mushrooms.

GREEN TEAR!
1 part Absinthe (I like La Fée…but others may have their favorites)
2 parts of cranberry juice
1 part tonic water
1 slice of lemon
Shake well and pour into a cocktail glass. I don’t think you should drink absinthe ice-cold, so I don’t include ice in the shaker.
Remember…Absinthe, the ‘Green Fairy’, is the true Pibgorn drink…

The avatar is from a poster/painting by Maxfield Parrish called Ecstacy. It can usually be found in poster shops near universities….
