Whole lot of plot exposition here. What’s Dru’s take on TommyT?

Boy, you sure can’t tell what’s happening in panel 1 of the final artwork. But the sketch makes it quite apparent.

By the holy skull of Mogg’s grandmother! Do a little histogram adjustment on panel 1 and it becomes something mind-boggling at full resolution…

From last night
I figured as much Sisyphos. Fairportfan, ”does anybody remember laughter”, I mean, does anybody remember Fairportfan, sent me a DVD copy a few months back. I think I might have seen the Christmas marriage episode one time previous while staying at Dad’s.
9CwL- It would appear that Diane has appealed to Monty’s sense of good taste.

All the black spiky pincushion-looking things are a new art design for the world of Pibgorn, aren’t they? I don’t recall seeing them before.
9CL: Sounds like Diane is breaking down Monty’s resolve to where he may relent yet on his quest for human redesign. Hope she’s successful–especially with the example she mentions.

“the black spiky pincushion-looking things” look rather like kina to me….
(What? I was born & raised in a land-locked state. The first time I encountered the critters was in En Zed.)
Uh-oh … the kina seem to have taken up residence in the reflecting pool. I didn’t realize we had seawater in there … though it does explain why the squirrels so enjoy using it to reenact the Battle of Midway.

I think Tom T has sent something to attack Dru & Nat’s real bodies whilst distracting them in Dreamland.
Sisyphos said, 3 months ago
It looks like she’s percolating black wild artichokes (cardoons): http://tinyurl.com/5rwog2 Perhaps they’re spent carnal energy, succubus-stuff. It reminds me (more so, the sketch version) of the notoriously unexplained scene in the Lena the Terrible arc (21 December 2007–find at Amarillo Jim’s archive)

Good thought. Maybe that’s how TT is draining off Dru’s mojo.

Has anyone considered the idea that, as Dru seemed so sick at the start of this arc, possibly after supercharging on Spitcock’s energy, that maybe this whole thing is to save Dru’s life? I mean, Tom T could be just as much a part of the dream as anything else. And who else could motivate Dru in this way? Maybe Dru needs to have this energy drawn off. Maybe the trail that leads to Pib is part of it, like a heat exchanger.

The way that Nat seems to chain smoke, it’s a good thing that demons are immortal. Otherwise, that much smoking would kill any mortal post haste.
And he always seems to have his hands on strategically-located places, like in panel 3.

Is it just me, or does Nat’s face in panel 2 look a little effeminate?
Sisyphos said, 3 months ago
BikeNBoatN, I think in panel 2 Nat is meant to look satiated, or spent….

WASTELAND
I stood on the edge of the cliff over looking an endless valley of death and decay. A demon was standing next to me. He was the one who had summoned me here.
” I have summoned you here for a purpose”. Said the demon and continued. ” I need your help to restore this land”. I looked at him as if he were crazy and to this I replied, ” Why should I help you, humans and demons have never gotten along and despise one another”. The demon stared at the wasteland that was dying, then looked back at me with his cold red eyes and gave me an answer that literally knocked the wind out of me. ” If you do not help me, this will happen to your land next”. He paused only for a brief moment then finished what he was saying. ” The world that both of us share is dying, soon our world will be nothing left but a wasteland of death and decay, like the valley you see before you.
I asked the demon why he even cared about our world. He got angry at my outburst and his nostrils flared out smoke. ” Listen up puny mortal”. He said trying to control his anger and continued. ” Not all of us demons are evil, just like not all of you humans are good”. He made a good point so I agreed to help him anyway that I could.
My answer pleased the demon, and we began to walk down the cliff into the wasteland. ” Where are we going”? I asked. The demon gave a deep satisfying laugh and said to me, ” You humans never cease to amaze me”. He laughed a little bit longer then stopped because he knew that I was being serious. ” My friend, you and I are going to a town called Baeleron to meet with someone who can help us”.
Silence followed as we began our journey. After about a whole days worth of walking we had made it out of the wastelands and onto the trail that would take us into Baeleron. ” We should rest here for the night, and continue on in the morning”. the demon said. I agreed, I was beat from walking all day, so I helped him set up camp, and was soon fast asleep.
TO BE CONTINUED…..

Just a wee taste of Dante’s Inferno, ladywolf17 (I don’t know if you’ve ever read The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri, of which Inferno is Part 1, but sooner or later it would be worthwhile. There are a number of English translations available.)

Sisyphos I have never read it or have even heard of it, I may have to check it out. I had a hard time getting my brain to work, ( to much sun today) . Then I had a bowl of ice cream, suffered a brain freeze, and bingo out came this tale. Everything that I write is purely made up in my twisted little mind. If some of my stories resemble closely to other stories, well then I must be getting to good at what I do.
Ladywolf17 said, 3 months ago
In the mean time stick around for part two tomorrow. Not even I know what my twisted little mind will come up with next.
In my new story I put you the reader, in a vast wasteland of a dying world. You are the main character being led on a quest by a demon. Beware! there is no telling what my mind will throw at you while you travel on your journey.
Ladywolf17 said, 3 months ago
So have fun and enjoy. Best of luck to you on your journey.
