    while we send our bundled Best Wishes to Honorable Master, I present a proposition for disputation–

    Drusilla in Black Plumage is:
    even more beautiful than in Red & Black;
    less beautiful than in Red & Black;
    as beautiful as in Red & Black;
    so beautiful, who notices her plumage?

    FORGIVEN!

    As if we need to forgive you, sir. Thank you for such a wonderful comic, so reliably delivered. I don’t know, and don’t need to know, how much you actually make from Pibgorn, but it can’t result in as much money for you as it does in satisfaction for us, your loyal and understanding, if slightly desperate, and definitely warped, readers and fans.

    Besides, as you undoubtedly know, a picture of Dru looking like that will cause any sentient male and many sentient females to forget the um, plot? and make us just stare insatiably at her beauty.

    On the other hand, sir, this plot better start makin’ sense soon, or I might be forced to come over there and stare up at you with sad eyes until it does!

    That IS a thweat, so be vewy afwaid.

    Duty calls!

    THE LITTLE DOG
    (Part Two)

    The strong river currents carried little Susie further away from her camp site. She struggled to stay afloat with every ounce of strength ans will she had, but she was getting tired fast.

    Back at the camp Susie’s parents alerted the camp ground forest rangers. Susie’s mother handed the rangers a photograph of her daughter and a piece of clothing for the dogs to get Susie’s scent. The search was about to begin.

    An unconscious Susie washed up to the shoreline. She was awakened by the licks of a small dog. “Doggy, what are you doing here”? Susie recognize the small dog from the gas station. She was happy that she wasn’t alone.

    ” My arm hurts. I think it’s broken”. Susie said tears welling up in her eyes. The little dog understood her and took off to try to find something that could help her.

    The little dog came back a short time later with a scarf it had found for Susie. Fortunately for Susie the scarf was tied in a knot. She placed it over her head, then grimacing in pain put her wounded arm in it so that it would be like a sling.

    Nightfall had come. The search party continue to search for Susie but had no luck. They came up to the spot where the trail had broken up. It was determined that Susie had fallen into the swift river, so it was not known how far the current would take her, or even if she was still alive. There was nothing more that they could do tonight.

    Susie and the little dog took shelter in a crop of trees. She laid down next to the dog and said a silent prayer while looking up at the stars. Then she cried her self to sleep.

    TO BE CONTINUED

    ……………………………………………………………………………………………..

    Will the search party be able to find Susie? Find out in part three.

    ……………………………………………………………………………………………..

    I hope that you all enjoyed part two of THE LITTLE DOG and will be back for part three hopefully tomorrow night.

    Truly, this isn’t a complaint or criticism, as I absolutely love Drusilla and today’s drawing. More as a point of interest, it seems that Dru has become more the main character than the strip’s namesake, Pibgorn. Possibly because the character of a succubus can have more development and depth than the character of a woodland fairy.

    Dru’s character has definitely evolved a long ways from her rather ambiguous origins in Dec-01 (See the annotated Pib strips from Apr-05 in AmriloJim’s archive).

    I, for one, am glad Dru has become a major character. Not that I mind, of course! After all, I have Dru as an avatar instead of Pib!

    I kinda feel sorry for ol’ Monty. He probably just lost his only friend in the whole wide world.

    So what if he’s not really omni-totus. So nobody’s perfect, right? And who else needs a friend more than the former heavy-weight Champion and Maker of the Universe, huh?

    Come on, Thorax, cut the dude some slack. Show him that wormhole in the shed. Talk about old times.

    Paciii: I apologize for mistaking the double dactyl form. for over twenty years, I’ve assumed the wrong thing about ‘em. And here I’ve avoided creating them because of that supposition.

    And with that inconceivable mistake out of the way, I can now introduce my latest favourite Einstein quote: “If we knew what it was we were doing, it would not be called research, would it?”

    The talent of true artists like Brooke absolutely astounds me. Because of traveling delays, he was understandably unable to complete today’s usual Pib installment. So I assume he didn’t have a whole lot of time to draw to his usual high standards. Yet he was still able to whip up the delectable picture of Dru and ask for our forgiveness. Truly, we should be the ones thanking him. So, thanks again, Brooke, for sharing your creations with us.

    As Gweedo’s ghost writer I must take objection to that. He doesn’t read the note, he watches the lips move, well, he used to… Now he just watches other moving, jiggling parts.

    I prefer coyotes to wolves, myself. Adaptable, smart, and they’ve actually filled the wolf’s niches in places like the Adirondacks. Nothing man has done- hunting, bounties, poisoning, fur trade, trapping, etc., has decreased the coyote’s numbers. In fact, they’ve taken over the Portland area, thanks to Portland and ODFW doing nothing when they first started moving into the greenways in 1993. It’s quite rare for coyotes to attack cows, too. (I know, I know… the official line about wolves and livestock and all that. As a biologist, I hear the real story. It happens a LOT more often in Idaho and Montana than people are led to believe by our PC media. Same with cougar attacks on people. It’s just that it’s rare for either type of attack to be successful. Cougar attacks average once a week in the western U.S. Thankfully, people rarely get killed.)

    Love it. It’s my argument for “Why go to Mars? Why not use robots?” Robots can only see what they were designed to look for, humans might notice things we can’t imagine.
    The first 2 interstellar craft should be named “Magellan” & “Cook” as a reminder that you don’t need to come back to be a great explorer. (Though, you need to at least get word back to be remembered.)

    I have cottontails, chipmunks, kangaroo rats, & some other rodent that looks a bit like the average grey alien, & at least 3 varieties of lizard, living in my back yard. Quail & small brown doves are daily visitors. This naturally attracts the occasional predator, owls, coyotes & roadrunners. I’ve never seen a coyote chase a roadrunner. They eat what they can catch or scavenge. The one in the ‘toon was using the wrong bait. Roadrunners don’t eat birdseed. They like rattlesnake. Or lizard or small rodent, whatever they can catch. Picture Speedy Gonzales running from the Roadrunner saying; “Reality TV sux,” & Sylvester the cat responding from the Coyote’s stomach; “Tell me about it.”
