Too much flowing blonde hair, and a thinly-veiled attack on Y’all’s finest Commander in Chief!
WE are NOT amused, “Mr. Brooke”.
Still, a knockerl is a knockerl - perhaps a pair o’ knockerls……..
Sisyphos said, 4 months ago
Maybe Betty wouldn’t be quite so “Sweaty” if she’d shed the “company colors” purple overblouse with which she keeps fiddling….

9CWL, Amos sure knows when to stop negotiating, and proceed to the original goal.

Oh, lighten up! Mr McE blasted Bush too! This is a cartoon, for pity’s sake!

The Mets, the mayor, and POTUS are equal-opportunity targets, Risitas! It’s more a generalized rant against The Establishment….

Hey, how can Sweaty Betty be (apparently) so near the volcano if it’s in Manhattan and she’s in Queens???
TennesseeD said, 4 months ago
Fair enough, Risitas!
Now if we could just figure out where this crazy story is going. I’m beginning to think Brooke is channeling Salvador Dali.

Nabuquduriuzhur said, 4 months ago
Yep. Free speech.
What is scary is “Betty” reminds me of a girl I knew in high school. The only difference was she liked to portray a prude on the outside but total flake on the inside. Yick.

Let’s not quibble over the proprieties of satire, here…we have a serious crisis on our hands.
Sweaty Betty was not just a one-night-stand. We are about to spend the weekend with her.
Going to take a shower, now…see y’all in the morning…

I AM amused!
….and B.O. plenty deserves it just as much as W, who deserved it just as much as Clinton, who deserved it just as much as GB the First. All of them fools, including the current First Fool. No more talk about who deserved it and who deserved it more.
Brooke makes fun of all polititcians and they all deserve it.
Stick to commenting on the cartoon.
Sisyphos said, 4 months ago
I confess to mixed emotions about Sweaty’s inability to keep her black bra covered by her tanktop and overblouse….

So does this mean Brooke is a Yankees fan?

WE CAN DO IT!!
What constitutes “it” remains open to debate.

I like Amos’ ability to negotiate. I also like McE’s wit on some of the new religions that have sprung up since the 1960s. I’ve yet to see Dionysus worship come back, but everything else has been brought back as a chance for people to get drunk. Speaking of which, I’ve often thought my hometown should have a statue of Bacchus or Dionysus to represent the average citizen here…
Sisyphos said, 4 months ago
Okay, Nabuquduriuzhur, I wikied both of those models; the first one had a couple of photos that only somewhat recall Sweaty Betty to me, while the second, described as a “nude model,” had no photos but was noted as appearing on that Czech “Red news” softcore channel you linked to yesterday….

I have to say this about “our president” and whether or not he or any other president “deserves it” or what-have-you other criticisms people are offering about this particular bit of “politics” in Brooke’s work.
Brooke is clearly writing this for the ages. I doubt that he intends any sort of “dig” about our current president. When he gets this published as a book, it will likely be available for decades, long after this president becomes a another minor annoyance, like Carter.
But it’s very typical political-speech. Lots of nonsense words carrying lots of emotional weight but very little substance. This kind of talk is uttered, in one way or another, at one time or another, by just about everybody in elected office.
I don’t think it can be helped. It comes with the territory. If you say something, anything, of any substance, somebody somewhere might disagree.
If it seems so apropos about our current president, that’s only because he is a proven master of the technique.

I had done a cut & paste of the boiler-plate, but deleted it after seeing Mattimeomeg had also done one.
I am enjoying the story so far, but today is not one of my favorites. I agree with the thought that people should leave their politics outside this site.

@MoonsingerFan I must have been working on mine while you posted yours! Kudos on the effort!
I must admit that I do not really like this week’s “cliffhanger.” Betty’s leering face is not what I would have chosen to have on my screen all weekend.
@Sisyphos It could be that they are somehow managing a “blue/green screen” effect behind her. She was not in front of anything yesterday, so she might be in a branch/sister-station’s studio in Queens.

It went from a “dilemma” in the sketch to a “crisis” in the finished drawing. Guess Brooke wanted to make it more urgent.

Also in the transition from sketch to final, her bust got smaller, but her dress got shorter, and her raised left eyebrow got less exaggerated.

Whoa bad mood tonight! looks like I have a job to do.
FAIRY
Kaylie was a girl with dreams. But the one dream that she cherished the most was to fly. The neighborhood kids all made fun of her calling her names like freak or retard.. Kaylie paid them no mind. She was different, and it didn’t bother her. One day she would show them that she will fly.
As she grew into her teenage years, She continued to believe that she would fly some day. She was madly in love with a boy named Michael, who didn’t care what others said about Kaylie.
One day Kaylie and Michael were out on a walk. Hand in hand they strolled through the park whispering sweet nothings to each other. They were looking for the perfect picnic spot.
A cry from a child was heard. Kaylie and Michael turned their heads to see that a little boy was hanging for dear life high up in a tree.
As Kaylie ran past her boyfriend she began to glow. Fairy wings sprouted out her back lifting her into the air. She flew to the tree and retrieved the little boy in front of a huge crowd gathering. She sailed down to the ground gently and let the little boy go into the arms of his tearful mother.
Michael caught up to Kaylie at last put his arms around her and kissed her lovingly. “your dream came true”. he said softly in her ears as he held her. “I’m in love with a fairy”. he said.
Just then, a bunch of lights flying in the sky appeared.
“they’re calling for me Michael”. Kaylie said gazing first at the lights then at Michael. “I understand! you must go”. He said, then continued, “Will I ever see you again, Kaylie”? Kaylie took his head into her hands and kissed him. ” As long as you love me, I will return one day for you”. she said, then joined with the other lights and vanished.
Ten years later, Michael was a broken down man. He lost his job, his family, and was fast hitting rock bottom with his drinking problem. He was beginning to think that suicide was the answer to his problems.
Michael went to the park on this night and looked up at the stars. As he remembered the good times he had as a teenager he remembered her face, Kaylie’s loving face. He then saw a shooting star and wished that he could be with her again in her loving embrace.
As he turned to leave the park, he saw her. “Kaylie, you came back for me”. Michael said as he ran to her, his one true love. She was as beautiful as he remembered her. Kaylie opened up her arms to him took his head gently and kissed him like she did before.
“This world has not been kind to you, my love”, She said hugging him tightly. “let me take you to a place far away, where happiness and love last for all eternity”. she said as they began to rise into the night sky to the Land of Enchantment THE END

Why does “Sweaty” Betty look like she’s putting on her jacket? What, or who, was she doing before she got on camera?
If she was the Weather Girl, she’d be pregnant by now.
I wonder what our child would look like?

I thought women weren’t supposed to sweat, they were supposed to glow…..
Not too sure about a woman who wants to be known as “sweaty”. Isn’t the corollary to “sweaty” “smelly”? Definitely not something I’d think most women would be proud to admit.

9CWL: I was just wondering where Amos keeps $12.95 when he is currently in a state of nudity. Maybe it’s just a promisory note…
Meanwhile, I was just behind the couch looking for some small change to help Amos out and discovered that ejcapulet was right - there are ducks behind the couch!
This could be useful in a cushion fight as we could use the duck down.
(Ducks down behind the couch.)
I just said that.
