    Pig Prosthetics
Robert was taking his family for a tour of a farm In Dustham. All was well until little Billy ran up to him and yelled. “Daddy, Daddy! That pig has got a wooden leg!” Robert told him not to be silly, but Billy yelled again “Daddy, Daddy! That pig really HAS a wooden leg!” So the whole family went over to the pen and, sure enough, there was a pig with a wooden leg.

Robert called to the farmer and asked him “Prithee, Goodsir, methinks ‘tis odd that yon pig has a leg of wood. Pray, what manner of thing is this?” (Robert had mastered the local dialect).

“Well, mate, it’s like this, innit?” (The farmer was actually from Clorxey Green). “When me and the missus was just starting up here, all we could afford was that pig. Got him when he was just a piglet.”

“Verrily, Goodsir,” (Robert was a bit slow on the uptake). “But why the leg as wooden as any oak?”

“Well, mate, it’s like this, innit? In the first week we got him he starts nuzzling the ground by that tree over there. We starts digging and there’s this huge pile of Roman coins. We got £250,000 for that.”

“Yes, but why the wooden leg?” (By Big George he’s got it!).

“Well, mate, it’s like this, innit? Abaht 6 months ago a burglar broke in tied up me and the missus, took all our money and jewellery and ran off. That pig jumped out of his pen, chased after the burglar, knocked him out, got into the house, chewed off the ropes on me and the missus, went back and sat on the burglar until the police came.”

    “But WHY THE WOODEN LEG?”

“Well, mate, it’s like this, innit? Only last month I was working the lower field, when one of the tractor wheels sinks into the grahnd. The whole thing tips over and pins me dahn. I couldn’t move. I thought I was a gonner, and no mistake. That pig jumps out of his pen and starts digging away at the earth around me and drags me out. I owe my life to that pig.”

“Yes, yes, yes. BUT WHY THE WOODEN LEG!!!”

“Well, mate, it’s like this, innit? Last Tuesday our niece went for a paddle in the pond. She slips and hits her head on a rock. That pig jumps out of his pen and drags her out. Then it does CPR on her. It saved her life.”

“Look, if you don’t tell us why that pig has a wooden leg, I’m going to beat you senseless.”

“Well, mate, it’s obvious, innit? You have a pig that good; you don’t eat him all at once!! Streaky bacon anybody? Fresh!”

‘Rocco’ is - as I suspected he would be - shadowed. And the upcoming Game Show is not necessarily to be hosted by Tom Torquemada (who looked distinctly fried when last we saw him, if memory serves). The Big Bad of the piece has yet to be completely unmasked.

‘Rocco’ also looks suspiciously slim and graceful to me - two qualities never exactly associated with Edward G. Robinson, who played him in Key Largo - and written dialogue doesn’t give you the timbre of a voice. Also note the hand. A possible gender surprise in the offing?

Snacks are gonna be tough to choose (the Master has us in two places at once again)…but I’m working on it…

    Ahh, nice, fresh Pib….

As I posted needlessly at “last night” just a few minutes ago, it looks to me very much like “Rocco” is a dame, possibly the former Pibsicle (somehow restored to viability and now on the search for Everybody). Meanwhile the brain-drained, tooth-endowed mannikins of Dinah, Nonny, and Teau-Teau are about to compete for a Violation in Gehenna with the Hunky Codpiece Model and Rutting Sociopath; and, yes, the gameshow host will almost certainly be that old pro,Tom Torquemada, the Host You Love to Hate!

Somewhere (or somewhen) between panel 5, where the girls have one last look as if they had their wits about them (as the side of the Volcano From H.e.l.l. closes up behind them), and panel 6, they have been totally transformed, made-up, and readied by the backstage crew to serve as Witless Gameshow Bunnies. They will be abused and humiliated by TomT, and then rescued–by Geoff and Maurice?

EDIT: At least it’s only a thirty-minute gameshow! –No matter how many days it takes to play out as measured in Pibgorn pages….

A codpiece is a fish fillet worn to enhance a male appendage. Popular during middle ages (30-55).

  26. ajlcary

    ajlcary said, 4 months ago

    @Nabuquduriuzhur

Tongue-in-cheek aside, A codpiece is the flap used to cover the “male appendage” in European garments of the years1200-1500 CE -

It didn’t take long for fashion to pad and modify this flap to enhance the appearance of the appendage. (Presumably a well stuffed codpiece implied a well endowed appendage.)

These ‘fake’ codpieces became pretty absurd- to the point where a man was preceded by his codpiece.

You can search the web to see pictures-

@Captain Smokeblower – You saying you currently live in Lubbock, or did live there but don’t now?

On the subject of mystery novels, I’m a fan of Tony Hillerman’s Navajo tribal police novels.

To me, Sayers reads like a cross between P. G. Wodehouse and Agatha Christie stylewise. I love P.G. Wodehouse. He cracks me up.

Finally found a job. Got hired last week. Spent most of last week getting my old puter in shape to work on. Supposed to start today except I haven’t been trained on their software yet. Filed for unemployment bennies June 1, and was told I was elligible. STILL waiting for said bennies. My bank acount is overdrawn, because of software I had to by for the computer I plan to use for work. I have 45 bucks in cash, and I won’t get paid at my new job until the 20th. Am told by the person I talked to at the unemployment place that it takes anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks to get unemployment $$. I could be out on the street before I get any money from them. (*&^%$#@!

    @Gunnr,
I’m spending the summer in Lubbock. Didn’t mean to. Won’t ever again if I can help it. (70+ degrees and 66% relative humidity @ Oh-dark-thirty in the morning.) Wife and I are nomads. Summer in Colorado’s mountains; winter in the desert.
We came for a HS graduation in May, but I broke my mouth piece and it’s going to take through July to get a new improved mouth piece (because they have to improve my mouth). My old style permanent mouth piece defined “permanent” as lasting no more than 10 years. I was expecting a longer duration even though I know it’s a throw-away society.

For breakfast this morning, seven pepper bacon and stuffed orange french toast (stuffing is equal parts cream cheese and orange marmalade, though the marmalade is thinned slightly with Grand Marnier). The cook is thinned with a little Grand Marnier too, but h3ck, he’ll do anything to thin himself except slow down at the dinner table. Why am I talking about myself in the third person and why am I now talking about myself to myself? This better not be a long distance call!

Wonder why panel 4 in the sketch has the three ladies so much different in height? It didn’t end up that way in the final art.

Gunnr, congratulations and best wishes on the new job.

The person on the boat could be female, I don’t know who; or could be Geoff. I too was impressed by the description of the male for whom they are vying. Another great bit of satiric prose.

Check the sketches - definitely “rutting” sociopath, which coincides with an “all-expense-paid VIOLATION in the pits of Gehenna.” And he looks like he would make a Gehenna out of Paris in springtime for any of our girls.
