And Oognat, appropriately dressed as an Apache dancer, enters the film noir…

  3. Adrienne Gormley

Adrienne Gormley said, 5 months ago

Well, whoever said t hat they expected old grey and grumpy to modify Oognat so she fits in the same scenario as the others called it exactly.

Nat doesn’t have to change; he’s a transplant from the Cantus, and still dresses the way the character from the book did.

Oognat is sparkling as she becomes la danseuse apache; though who in the Dreamscape can be her partner? Not Nat He’s with Dru-Dinah. And Pib-Nonny. He couldn’t handle yet another dame! –Or could he?!

  5. Adrienne Gormley

Adrienne Gormley said, 5 months ago

And we’re still waiting for Geof (aka Grinder), who is somewhere in the mountains, beside a glacier, carrying the frozen real world body of Pibby.

Edit: I think Nat could handle as many ‘dames’ as he thinks he can. Remember his motto: ‘What would Bogey do?’ ;)

Yesterday, I thought it was a right hand, reaching over Oognat and wrapping the fingers behind; today it is made clear that it was a left hand (as other commenters said correctly) with the fingers wrapping to the fore and from behind her.

So, anyway, is this then a reiteration of the old left=sinister canard [said irrepressibly left-handed Sisyphos]?!

    GunnrGenius_badge said, 5 months ago

if Oognat is going to be an apache dancer, she’s getting a head start on her dancing. She’s already being thrown around and she isn’t even at the dream scene yet. However, she may just be dressed like one, and may not actually be one. She may be Grinder’s (or somebody’s) gun moll. Of course, I suppose one could be an apache dancer and a gun moll at the same time. . .

My, what long slender fingers you have, Smoke-Demon!

I was thinking female from Panel 2 in today’s strip - no way it could be Lena’s hand directing from a ramped up version of the game he modified? I keep hearing that line from War Games, “Would you like to play again?”…

I don’t think Lena is involved with this. Lena didn’t even know about Oognat as far as I can recall. No, this little bundle of toxic vapor is going to make Spinky look pretty tame by comparison.

@fatuncle - nothing major - just the graduating class and friends doing some underage drinking and they got busted! Fortunately we have very understanding police officers around here and she was allowed to come home since she was sober - no arrest, no record - hopefully just some learning from the experience. But I am going to let her dangle for awhile, as the hand seems to be doing with Oognat. Thanks for your concern! Single momhood is not an easy thing -

@bhandraoijo Yes, please, a few more details! Don’t try to out-cliffhang our master: it’s only Thursday.

Kalahari I’m with you. I don’t necessarily think the cloud/whatever is evil. Maybe; maybe not. It is big, though, and I assume that it’s powerful; definitely to be treated cautiously and with respect. As I recall, vatches aren’t particularly evil; they’re just hugely powerful and very different.

Alert! If any of the Barbara Hambly fans here is in the market for a copy of “The Quirinal Hill Affair” (hardback title of “Search the Seven Hills”, there are some available reasonably priced at amazon.com. (I’ve seen only available copies priced at over $100, which mightn’t be so bad if she would get the royalties.)

Welcome back, * CyberDwarf!* Be sure to check out the sideboard, etc.

We’ve gone from Inky in the last story arc to Smoky in this one. Wonder if he had thrown Dru from her meditation place in the icy wastes all the way to New York the way he threw Oognat?

Nat has a habit of saying “All Nat knew … ” but somehow Nat really knows. Maybe his true demonic persona buried underneath the Bogart persona surfaces from time to time?

Sisyphos, Omphalos? If so it’s a Outsie. Brooke likes little rock protrusions upon which to place his characters at Seminal Points in the arcs–e.g. when Amos and Edda made up after the Muse recital, estrangement and move to New York. They were back atop one after their return from Brussels. {Brand X won’t load archives for me at the mo so can’t cite specifics} Juliette envisioned herself atop one as she bestowed her zen-like wisdom to a teenaged Edda, who saw her mum as a restrained mental patient.

Seems like things are going to get VERRRY interesting!

thanks for the coffee and pancakes!
Leaving some tuna pasta salad with fresh lettuce and tomatoe slices for the lunch crowd!

(watched a vid of the apache dancers…gotta’ say “ouch”!! for the female dancers on that one! then I thought holy cow…this dance was considered to be a re-enactment of a “lover’s” quarrel, and I just imagined all the women in the past and present that have had to live with violence in their lives. I had to stop watching it because I started to get upset about how this was actually an acceptable way to treat a woman and it was to be laughed at. I hope that the Master doesn’t place Oognat in that role…)
