If you would like to ‘favorite’ the strip, (and maybe the sketch, too), simply log in and click on the ‘Favorite’ star at the lower right corner of the strip. Mr. McEldowney very kindly asked for us what purpose is served by favoriting, and this was the answer:
I asked my editor at Gocomics about the purpose of “favoriting” a strip. Her answer was this: “‘Favoriting’ allows people following you to see what comics you like. ‘Favorited’ comics also show up under your profile, and allow us to see what comics people are enjoying.” Basically, I think it provides a method for spreading the word. So…Pib’s kiss thawed Geoff but drained her to the point where she was then transported to the dream world/alternate reality from whence demons and fairies are unable to extract themselves while Dru and Nat…converse, right? Or am I just crazy?
Hey, Geoff, that’s a frosty Pibcicle you’ve got there young man!
Quick, kiss her.
Even if your lips stick it’ll be worth it, but no tongue, Geoff.
No, Geoff, on the lips. Just on the lips. This is a family comic. Well, a strange family, but we’re family none the less.
Speaking of strange families, I remember walking hand in hand with this lovely young coed one evening 40 years ago. We were on our way back to her dorm when she sweetly said, “You’re like a brother to me.” She was surprised when I slapped my own face, but I had to do it to keep from asking her how she felt about incest.
Sisyphos says: How many Pibgorns are there? How many places is she?
The Pibgorn situation is easy. The ‘real’ Pibgorn is currently an ice-cube, lying next to Geoff. Meanwhile, her ‘soul’, if you will, is loose in the Dreamtime, where she’s a heller in pink tights (from the movie of the same name), dropping in on Dru. Similarly, the ‘real’ Dru is encased in lava, inside that volcano you see in frame 1, while her ‘soul’ (if succubi have same), also lost in the Dreamtime, has been playing a noir heroine, boinking Nat, committing various other acts considered ‘unnatural’ (well, kicking a cop over the Moon is considered unnatural in *my* neighborhood) and generally misbehaving.
The confusing part is this: What has Geoff been dreaming all this while? Assuming that Pib’s kiss thawed him…why - and how - was he iced in the first place? And why does he look so ‘old-school’? And other questions of the same ilk.
A perfect cliffhanger Friday for this story-arc: Fire…and Ice…and the Couch in a state of confusion.
I’m off to rustle up some viands for the weekend. I shall see thee anon…
Thank you, everyone, for the birthday wishes.
Three of us, wow! - out of how many regulars?, 100? 50? or so? Given there is 365 days in a year, 3% is pretty high.
I threw myself a tea party. About a dozen people came. Everyone had a great time. Just served cookies, grapes, chips, cheesies, and, of course, tea :)
Night, guys.
So far, at least for me, to favorite the strip I must click on the Add To Collection tab, and then click on the Add To Favorites gold star in the menu that opens under that tab.
I don’t think the volcano melted the ice, MurphyHerself; the volcano is on Manhattan, while the ice is presumably related to the Frozen Tsunami from the last arc and in the mid-Atlantic Ocean. N’est-ce pas vrai?
My initial impression was that the volcano is “melting,” or diminishing (starting to “go away”), just as the contrasted ice is. Was I wrong about that?
“Nunny-Bun”–I like that, Risitas! Sounds like a good brandname, for something (I know not what)….
“Nunny-Bunny” is an affectionate term applied by some to “traditionally-dressed” (“The Flying Nun” ring a bell, fellow oldsters?) Cath’lic Sisters. They, of course, are easily ID’d in public: “Hey, there’s a Nunny-Bunny!”
Sisyphos said, Comment 2 to comment on,

Actually, it’s maybe a tad low - for any random group of thirty people, odds are something like 2 to 1 in favour of at least 2 matching birthdays. Out of any random group of six, it’s like 3 to 1 that 2 will have birthdays in the same month.

I don’t think so. I don’t know what tall buildings are near 77th and Park, but it’s taller than any of them and still erupting.
Thanks all for the b-day wishes. Spent the evening very congenially. My mom cooked a wonderful pot roast dinner with all the trimmings for a small gathering of family and friends.

Ref the Littermaid modification – the drawer works OK, but what works even better (for me, anyway) is one of those under-the-bed storage boxes (see subsequent post). If you use the drawer and you let the bag get too full, it’s hard to get the drawer open without tearing the bag. But with the storage box, you can set the Littermaid off to the side and take the lid off the storage box and simply lift out the sack of poop. I use regular drawstring 20 gallon trash bags and with 3 cats I can go up to 2 weeks per bag. (I could go three weeks, but the bag would be too heavy for me to lift!)
If you had a small or “toy” size dog like a Yorkie, or Chihuahua or even a Jack Russell size dog, I bet you could train it to use a Littermaid full of clumping cat litter. The “evidence” doesn’t have to be buried for the Littermaid to do it’s thing.

It works for me - i click on it, the gray stripy animated stripe appears at the top, and the cute little star wiggles and turns gold.
Granted, i don’t see how many times the strip’s been favorited.
From the varied comments so far, I guess there’s some room for disputing whether or not the volcano is receding. I figure we’ll see in future pages, maybe next week….
Evidently, speculation about Pib’s color change as reving up for a baiser de la fey (sp?) was correct. She appears to have “healed” Geoff of being frozen stiff by transfering his frozen stiff state onto herself.
We know that both Dru and Bustard are physically in the volcano in NYC, and Pib, Geoff and Maurice are physically where-ever the ice is, but as to the mental/psychic/dream state goings on and where/how they are going on, I can but settle into a reclining section of the couch, ask to be passed some Harvey’s Bristol Cream on the rocks, please, and be confused in comfort.
Just clicked to my “Profile” page on a whim and learned a few things about myself, including, e.g., that my tags are now identified as mine: no more anonymity there! Also, when I signed up, how many postings I’ve made, how many “Favorites” I’ve accumulated….

“Evidently, speculation about Pib’s color change as reving up for a baiser de la fey (sp?) was correct. She appears to have “healed” Geoff of being frozen stiff by transfering his frozen stiff state onto herself.”
A) I believe Pib pronounces if “baiser de la fee” - French, ou know.
B) I also believe that your analysis is likely correct, and that’s another way in which this story is echoing past events - when Pib revved up and kissed Geoff to cure his arrow wound:
This is Interesting: if you want a Huge copy of the strip, click “More”, click “View Larger” - and, no matter what size it shows up on your screen, right-click (for Mac users, i have no idea…) on the new image, select “Save image” (or equivalent - Firefox and Safari say “Save image as” and IE says “Save picture as”), select a location and a filename, click “Save” and Robert is your maternal unit’s sibling.

Don’t bother … unlike what you’d get at 9CL’s host (where the on-page art is reduced), here you get a 50% machine resize of the image you see anyway - therefore it’s slightly degraded (not as bad here as with images that are more line art tho’) - you’re better off saving from the page & then using a viewer with zoom capability – you’ll get a slightly clearer image.
A fantastic saga of adventure both high and low, of forbidden passion and iambic pentameter, of fays, fools, organists, demons, accordions, heaven, hell and Shakespeare, Pibgorn follows the whims and flights of its eponymous fairy heroine as she plies her conviction that there must be more to life than depositing dew drops on dandelions and sleeping under mushrooms.
