If you would like to ‘favorite’ the strip, (and maybe the sketch, too), simply log in and click on the ‘Favorite’ star at the lower right corner of the strip. Mr. McEldowney very kindly asked for us what purpose is served by favoriting, and this was the answer:
I asked my editor at Gocomics about the purpose of “favoriting” a strip. Her answer was this: “‘Favoriting’ allows people following you to see what comics you like. ‘Favorited’ comics also show up under your profile, and allow us to see what comics people are enjoying.”
Basically, I think it provides a method for spreading the word.

OK, it seems clear to me (hah!) that this must be some sort of shared dream. Dru seemed to be somewhere near NYC with Nat when their car crashed, while Pib was somewhere with lots of snow and glaciers (North Pole? Himalayas?). Or at least that where they thought they were. Now, suddenly, they’re in the same place. I think Dru has been in this dream ever since the hospital and the volcano, but Pib didn’t join her until she kissed (tried to kiss?) Geoff while he was “on ice”.

As I said “last night,” this is reminiscent of what just happened in Luann over at Brand X. But this is probably the Circus from Hades….

Indeed, as in a dream, venues keep shifting with no logic, events seem episodic, characters come and go or change in mid-stream. All the classic markers of Dreamscape are present. But whose dream is it? I’m not the first to ask this question, but it seems increasingly relevant….

Come one over, Debra, there’s lots and it’s really good.

I see I have a lot of catching up to do–I started reading this strip about the time Dru was in the hospital before the volcano.

Just before signing in, I caught the delayed broadcast of Reaper [delayed in Chicago for a baseball game on channel 9], in which the Devil (Ray Wise) mentioned that the best place to look for a portal to the realm Down Under would be an active volcano (line went something like “…they’re like pimples on the seat of He!!….”). Seems relevant.

Yes, of course - however, it DID jump to mind immediately upon seeing it, since I spent every year of the D-Rays existence (b4 they had the exorcism) in the Tampa Bay Area.

    Just couldn’t help it, S.

BTW - Mancha SdeP is snoozing EXACTLY where he is on the avatar - but NOT with the pooch to cuddle.

    Curiouser and curiouser…

Since it looks like we’re going for a new record, I’ve brought one of those sectional couches that has both straight and corner pieces where some of the straight sections include built in recliners with a goodie cache/arm rest and cup holders, and some of the corner pieces are chaise longues. I’ve also stocked the fridge with a selection of fixin’s and fancy liquors, set out the heavy duty blenders and a full icemaker bin for the frozen drink crowd – Margueritas, Dacquiris, Cardinal Sins, Polish Avalanches, Whiteouts, Rollercoasters, etc. Little paper parasols available upon request.

    .
But the Borgia Cantus arc wasn’t a dream, though Dru got pulled into the book’s plot,
    .
    .
I just thought - Dru slipped completely into the Dinah Cloverly persona, but Pib and Geoff weren’t subsumed by Nonny and Grinder.
    .
Does that mean that Pib and Geoff are stronger than Dru in some was?

Good morning from Washinton DC. I am at a conference. Chow at the couch is way better than here. Plus the seats aren’t comfortable. It makes sleeping really difficult, although some of the speakers overcome that with no effort at all.

    Breakfast! Poached eggs anyone?

A lot this looks a bit like the previous story arc – when Pib was snatched into Suzerain, she was contored into postures similar to when she got snatched into wherever she is right now.

The falling from the sky, Dru did that when Spinky sent her into Suzerain.

That’s a pretty big open area they’re in – where is the Plymouth? Is it off stage, or off panel somewhere to the right?

    On the UNUSUAL SQUIRRELS SUBJECT.
    .

About 25 years ago or so, Bowling Green Ohio had a population of white squirrels, mostly on campus. I think some Biology major or grad student did research on them even. I know the number declined as the years went by, but dont know if they are there still.
    .
Also, about the same number of years ago, in Stratford, Ontario most, if not all the squirrels were black, or maybe black-brown like mink. At the time I assumed that northern squirrels were black and mid-west USA squirrels were grizzeled red-orangish or grey. Black squirrels are very pretty, even tried to get a picture with my Kodak Instamatic camera, unsuccesfully.
    .
The resident couch squirrels are sort of tan-ish or red-brownish, aren’t they?? . . As soon as I try to see for sure they scurry behind the beanbag. Phooey!
    .

    as always

Here in Oklahoma City, the weather has finally remained warm for three days and nights consecutively, and the swimming pool was swimmable last night without firing up the heater. In honor of the occasion, there are corn chips, guacamole, and an ice tub full of Negro Modelo over by the sideboard.

Now all I wanna do is figure out how to get into this shared dream! WAY more interesting than what I usually have to sleep through.

  49. Anyol'tomcat

    Anyol'tomcatGenius_badge said, 6 months ago

I think Dru is generating multiple dreamquest scenarios because of all the excess power she acquired from Spitcock’s “game”. It was designed to harvest and to store mojo or mana or whatever energy fuels magical beings. Dru took all of that power– her special talents have to do with dreams. She put Geoff in a dream state in the Poltergeist arc f’instance–AND there she had to conform to his imagination to some degree–Star Trek images of “conquering Mars in high heels”.

Anyway, she NOW has far more power than she can control. There’s parallel to her inability to channel all the limitless energy she had at the end of the Men in Black arc. Then there was the danger that the cosmos would absorb her back into itself. Here the energy level is lower and of a different order but it is still beyond her mastery.

Pib was pulled into her dream when she tried to kiss Geoff–or perhaps the dream started when Pib “gave” G. to Dru at the end of the last arc. There was some discussion about love-by-compulsion between D & G.
