If you would like to ‘favorite’ the strip, (and maybe the sketch, too), simply log in and click on the ‘Favorite’ star directly above the strip. Mr. McEldowney very kindly asked for us what purpose is served by favoriting, and this was the answer:
I asked my editor at Gocomics about the purpose of “favoriting” a strip. Her answer was this: “‘Favoriting’ allows people following you to see what comics you like. ‘Favorited’ comics also show up under your profile, and allow us to see what comics people are enjoying.” Basically, I think it provides a method for spreading the word. Brooke
Pib is being a methodical, precise detective, or CSI (did she learn something from Nat besides his remarkable endurance?); now, what will she do when she reaches the end of the trail?

(1) New webcomics, huh?
.
Has anyone here ever had a look at BLIP?
.
Strip about a young woman and her friends … and angels and imps … and witches and vampires … and succubi and incubi (well, one of each) … and med students … and night shift at Kinko’s … and a dog named Poo for obvious reasons … and a beautiful cyborg who can go out on five or six dates at once while staying home and then download the memories to her main body … and some stuff that really strange.
.
Start at the beginning {http://blipcomic.com/1/}
.
You get a partial explanation (from the Devil himself) at about strip #39, but you won’t understand it if you don’t read what comes before.
.
You might not understand it then, either, but at least you’ll have a fighting chance.
.
(2) Speaking of Wapsi Square, may i point the OTC to this lovely piece of Powerpuff Girls fanart Pablo did {http://pablowapsi.deviantart.com/art/The-Powerpuff-Girls-92024303}, featuring Monica, Jacqui and Shelly?
Right, okay, I’m still lost, but at least we know that she’s following some sort of trail that Dru made whilst she was sick and falling off of things. Or do you think there’s ANOTHER giant hole in the street?
Ooookay, I’m just too lost again, so scoot over on the couch, I brought my husband’s home-made chicken soup. His soup is the BEST; he simmers the chicken with garlic and ginger for hours, it can fix a cold or a bad day in one bowl!
Pib can follow a trail of magical sparkly dust that the average human eye cant see, but she cant see the several story volcano with what looks like 4,000,000,000 pounds of jet thrust spewing out the top. Thaaaaats a head scratcher. If Ive missed something please fill me in.
“The Rolling Stones ‘You Can’t Always Have What you Want’ was inspired by a meeting of Mick & Jimmy Hupmacher in Excelsior,MN
many decades ago. Mr.Jimmy was a town character.
Some more musical trivia - the Monkees may hold the record for the most reasons in one songtitle that the BBC demanded they give it an alternative title before it would play the song:
.
Randy Scouse Git manages to break the Beeb’s rules of the day three times in three words - “randy” being pretty much equivalent to “horny”, “scouse” being a potentially offensive term for someone from Liverpool, and “git” meaning someone whose parents might, possibly, have been formally introduced but the odds are against it.
.
So the BBC demanded an alternative title - so, if you look at most LPs/CDs, you’ll find it listed as Randy Scouse Git(Alternative Title).
.
What i also love about the song is that (A) it specifically references the Beatles (“…the four kings of EMI are sitting stately on the floor…”) and (B) was written at Lennon’s suggestion, after Mickey Dolenz hung out with Lennon and the other Beatles when he was in London…
Hmmm, essence of Dru?? I’m in the lineup for the confusion couch too!
@Tallwoman41: Sounds like good news yesterday. You and your son make a nice photo! I have to admit that, as sexist as it is, I was thinking about you while Miss Cloverly was showing off her legs last week. You don’t have to prove that yours are better though. I’ll believe you. :)

Fairport - I’ll file that one under oops. I clean forgot about our boy Geoff and his sudden disappearance off the radar scope, so to speak. I imagine that Pib hasn’t forgotten about or given up on getting back with Geoff.
I myself am getting rather anxious to find out why Dru was taking the swan dives off of the building at what appeared to be somebody elses behest.

Lessee: That’s three Ealing comedies with Alec Guinness, two out-of-the-ordinary films from Powell and Pressburger, and Malcolm McDowell’s first film.
–There are, of course, several on that list which I like. But, hands down, my favorite one, if one I must pick, is The Third Man. One of the great classic films, and with an unusual score that I still find haunting….

No - i think she’s back-tracking Dru’s movements before the volcano, having left Bustard to deal with Dru and the Volcano.
“All right, well the next thing Dru did was get gurneyed (sp) into the hospital. Do you suppose she’ll look for Geoff?”
I think she is looking for Geoff; she started at the volcano, she’s back to where Dru fell off the roof; from there, i suspect she traces Dru back further…
okey-doke… so the detective is lip-rassling with Dru inside the volcano (or possibly inside a dream inside the volcano), and the arboreal fairy who “hired” him is downtown, sniffing magic dust in a hole in the sidewalk. Brooke is leading up to something, and it’s so obscure right now that all we can do it sit here and drool at the pretty colors.
fairportfanPro says: “I was right - it was the building Dru fell of - even though Brooke missed his own visual continuity again.”
Not necessarily. Angle and closeness of perspective could account for the difference s of appearance.
“Love Pib’s dive and pullout in Panels 3 & 4.”
Indeed. As Master Diver noted, her movements are most reminiscent of a swimmer rather than a flier, but sometimes the line is a bit blurry. Here they appear as both. But then, that is the nature of magic, isn’t it?
Oh, and since it is getting in toward breakfast time ‘round hereabouts, inspired by my brief cruise thru the messages over at Big Top, may I present scratch biscuits with your choice of fresh creamery butter or sausage gravy…? Wipe yourself, you got a little on your chin…
A lovely sausage flavored with sage, pan-fried potatoes with green onions and three-colored bell peppers chopped up in it, duck eggs cooked to order and red-eye gravy for those of us what had had some red-eye the night before. Served with mason jars of ice cold whole milk. A tribute to my country roots.
It’s a mystery, whatever that stuff is. Something emanated from Dru while she was in distress? It wasn’t there before – something only fairies and other magic folk can see?
Wonder if there is anything like that left twisting about in the hospital?
“A lovely sausage flavored with sage, pan-fried potatoes with green onions and three-colored bell peppers chopped up in it, duck eggs cooked to order and red-eye gravy for those of us what had had some red-eye the night before. And I’m fifty pounds overweight, trying desperately to lose it, and gained three pounds just reading that.
@KCBoomer: Pretty clear none of us have a clue as to where this is going.
And isn’t that one of the best things about this? No trailers, no “reviewers” with spoilers, just the pure joy of discovering what’s up Brother McEldowney’s sleeve, besides one of the most talented arms in the history of art. For example, the translucency of Pib’s right wing as it blurs “the trail” behind it. Old DryGrub Willie is content to sit on the CC, graze on the goodies (I brought croissants and fresh strawberries) and wait to see what unfolds.
I fondly remember following ethereal scents like that at Renaissance Faires. Oh, wait a minute, that was probably smoke come to think of it. Whoooaaahhh… cool… flashback…
those are great details in the last panel of the “scent trail”–the way the light comes down and lights up the, um, molecules, and how they blur behind Pib’s wings (as DryGrubWillie beat me to pointing out)
ooooh-croissants and strawberries–yum!
”I fondly remember following ethereal scents like that at Renaissance Faires.”
I have been to only one Faire, in Virginia, about seven years ago. And I let my brother and sister-in-law get me away from a man playing hammered dulcimer, accompanied by a flutist; he had CD’s of his music for sale.
The music was enchanting, I have no idea who the player was, I never heard him or of him since, and I have for years bitterly regretted not buying a CD then and there. Or at least for God’s sake getting his name!
I would imagine Dru’s scent would include cinnamon and spice with several touches of things more earthy and sinister, like? musk? a touch of brimstone?
Fairportfan and Others*,
We’ve missed something important about the trail!
It looks as if Pib has found the END of it. The trail does not continue! And it’s not the trail from Ground zero to the hot-spital (Volcanicly-hot-hospital.)
It’s a trail that ends with the hole in the sidewalk, and began with…
began at…
Well, there’s our next conundrum. Where did this trail begin? Is Geoff at the other end of it? A huge empty bottle of lilac-bubble-tea which Dru drank?
Perhaps when Dru was with Geoff, and Earth/Fire incarnation of Gia attacked her, and tried to take control of her body. The sparkly-bubbles are the product of their conflict (housed within Dru’s skin) which ended under the sidewalk, when the Gia-spirit won.
OK, that’s my bit of fan-fiction for today.
Fresh-baked wholewheat olive bread for the Couch, and a great-big Pangalactic Gargleblaster for me…
AAaaaaahhhhh.
I don’t know. The trail looks too .. well .. cute to be demonic. Fuzzy purple and pink dandelion fluff just doesn’t scream demon to me. I’m wondering if Dru might have been under the influence of something less evil and more benign that just didn’t go over too well.
A fantastic saga of adventure both high and low, of forbidden passion and iambic pentameter, of fays, fools, organists, demons, accordions, heaven, hell and Shakespeare, Pibgorn follows the whims and flights of its eponymous fairy heroine as she plies her conviction that there must be more to life than depositing dew drops on dandelions and sleeping under mushrooms.
