If you would like to ‘favorite’ the strip, (and maybe the sketch, too), simply log in and click on the ‘Favorite’ star directly above the strip. Mr. McEldowney very kindly asked for us what purpose is served by favoriting, and this was the answer:
I asked my editor at Gocomics about the purpose of “favoriting” a strip. Her answer was this: “‘Favoriting’ allows people following you to see what comics you like. ‘Favorited’ comics also show up under your profile, and allow us to see what comics people are enjoying.”
Basically, I think it provides a method for spreading the word.

Gweedo: How was the trip to the Planet of the Dead?
Oo-o-kay - Amber Benson, who played Willow’s girlfriend, Tara, on Buffy the Vampire Slayer has made a new film.
It’s apparently a direct-to-video release.
It also features Ron Jeremy. It’s about a crew making a porn film on location on a remote mountaintop.
Ron Jeremy is hit by (apprantly) a meteor and killed.
But his talent lives on.
The film is called One-Eyed Monster, and it looks hilarious.
The trailer (definitely NSFW): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=933FExsfU3c
I’m not sure whether i’m going to do a flicker for the new strip or not. The “animation” effect you’d get switching back and forth would be a hoot; sort of reminds me of a Tex Avery Wolf…

Are we in Dreamland? That’s the only explanation I see for Nat’s reconstitution and Dru’s re-emergence as torch-singer Dinah Cloverly. As I said “last night,” I hope Nat’s cigarette doesn’t fall into Dinah’s barely-there dress (of course, it’s quite full already)!

@fearciuil: Sunday night, KUNC ran the second half of the Peter Schickele / P.D.Q. Bach concert you went to a few weeks ago. I am so jealous! Judging from the laughter, there must have been some very good visuals to go along with the music.

It strikes me that the colours of Dru’s costume - particularly the opera-length gloves - mirror the colouration of the merged Pib and Dru inside Suzerain…

That picture of Ms. Cloverly is gorgeous. Her new color’s incorporated, and if she’s a volcano, the skirt of her dress is like the lava flowing onto the stage.
I wonder what she’ll sing?

Gweedo: How was the trip to the Planet of the Dead?
.]
It was mortifying. I’m sure the time travel alien made Fendleman drop the song lyrics so that they would be found and committed to song in order that they would be available years later for appropriation for the 200. The “loud” volume was a welcome change from the usual pro quality that has a low signal output, from my computer to the stereo, for the audio portion. The earphone out volume is turned all the way up by the way. With “Planet” I could turn the volume back from ¾ and still have plenty of loud.
Part way through the Christmas ones. Too much schmaltz. British is bad as U.S. in that respect. Gripping and thrilling nonetheless. If he transforms I haven’t seen it yet. In “Planet” I found myself rewinding, as best I could, to catch dialog that got by me. That function is a bit wonky here. Works properly on store bought. Audio and video Quality: excellent.

Yes, a true classic! When I was a kid, (that would have been the Late Devonian or Early Silurian, or thereabouts) our local TV station used to run cartoons during the time period between 3:30pm and 5:00pm (“after school programming”) for the kids to watch to keep them out from underfoot while Mom was getting dinner. The cartoons they ran were all the Merrie Melodies, Silly Symphonies and Loonie Toons that were originally made to be shown to adults in movie theaters, so I was exposed to the likes of Tex Avery, Chuck Jones, etc., at a tender age. It was quite an education. Back then, we only had two TV stations, the NBC and CBS affiliates respectively, both of which signed off their broadcasting “day” at midnight with the Star Spangled Banner. After that, all you got was the test pattern until 6 am when broadcasting resumed. I remember what a revelation it was the first time I ever got to see my old favorites in color… .
Yes, I am familiar with the great Mr. Krupa and his incredible talent.

The center panel just screams for a sound track of “Fever” by the inimitable Peggy Lee – the version where it’s just her and a bass fiddle and bass drum. Second choice would be Peggy Lee’s version of “Black Coffee.”

Question was raised as to how cats can tell who is allergic to them, and pick that one to get friendly with.
Has to do with a little interspecies miscommunication. When humans are angry or feel threatened, they make a “scowl” face, to indicate agression. Scowling narrows the eyelids. But to a cat, half closing your eyes means just the opposite: “I don’t perceive you as a threat, so I don’t need to keep an eye on you. You may approach if you wish.” It is a signal given by the most dominant to indicate acceptance of the subordinate as a “non threat.”
If you’re allergic to cats and/or don’t want one to come jump in your lap, look them in the eye and open your eyes as wide as they will go and the cat will back off and not approach you. Bugging your eyes out in cat lingo means “Back off, Jack!” If you are a cat lover, catch their eyes, then almost close yours. They’ll be in your lap in short order.
Oddly enough, when human women do that same half closing of the eye thing, but “keep a straight face” while they’re doing it, it’s known as the “come hither” look. Works on cats, too.

I love LOVE the tonal quality of Dru’s left side and how it is defined in the silhouette. My goodness Feurcicuil, if you did not have the boilerplate up, I totally would have forgotten to favorite the strip. I am still gawking!
On a slightly off subject someone posted a link to Susan Boyle’s Cry Me a River song - and frankly that voice is just living in my head with this image of Dru.
As my avatar mimics…. HUBBA HUBBA!
