‘favorite’ the strip,

(and maybe the sketch, too), simply log in and click on the ‘Favorite’ star directly above the strip. Mr. McEldowney very kindly asked for us what purpose is served by favoriting, and this was the answer:
I asked my editor at Gocomics about the purpose of “favoriting” a strip. Her answer was this: “‘Favoriting’ allows people following you to see what comics you like. ‘Favorited’ comics also show up under your profile, and allow us to see what comics people are enjoying.”
Basically, I think it provides a method for spreading the word.

You may be right, fairportfan; comparing the planes in yesterday’s and today’s cartoons, there does seem to be more than one type of aircraft involved (maybe both McE-15 Fantasy Fighters and C & H Modified Fighters). And I suppose this could indicate a multi-national mission!

I don’t think it’s so much that the planes are aiming for Pib as that they’re aiming where the woozle wasn’t so to speak - the pont in the sky where both Dru and Pib were a second ago. Follow Pib’s contrail back to its origin.

A nullopotent liliodendron, er lilith (night demon mentioned in the OT). Perhaps one of the Gallic pilots will be able to work his magic on her, instead of what happened last time.

zmaster2112 - I’m rusty on my mythology, but I think Lilith as Adam’s first wife was a concept that early Jewish scholars came up with, to explain how Eve’s kids avoided marrying their own full brothers and sisters. I’ve also read that she was the dark avatar of an early Mesopotamian mother-goddess, sort of like Kali is a dark avatar of Durga in Hinduism.

That may be, but she flipped so she’s going head-first toward the ocean. I can’t tel from her sparkle-trail when the flip occurred, but I guess it could’be been from a push from Dru. I wonder if she’ll land in the middle of the disturbance or outside it. (fix from within or without…)

i just read in one of my mythology books that Lilith, as punishment for not obeying Adam, became the snake that tempted Eve to eat the fruit
then the snake was punished by being made to crawl on it’s belly.
i have also heard she was (is) considered to be a succubus.

Looking at Pib’s bobble trail before the plummet, I agree that Dru probably gave her an elbow in the back to get her going. I’m fairly sure that there will a surprising outcome to their separate moves, but that it will be next week before we find out what!
I do think it’s funny how Edda can’t guess that Amos would LIKE being Bogart, doesn’t she know that yet about him?
Gunnr, I had found Dreamless a couple weeks ago, but the other two are new. Now they’re bookmarked until I decide if I want to pursue them. I’ve got quite the list already. :)

This isn’t a cliffhanger any more, because Pib has already lost her hold on the cliff, so to speak, and is falling gently as a giant snowflake to the ocean below.

Before she gets there, let’s enjoy the aerial combat. I’m hoping for an Immelmann Roll, a Chaput Shredder, and maybe even - dare I say it? - a Picard Manoeuvre.

Time to settle in with some Dunkin’ Donuts (the real kind, with the handle for dunkin’, obtainable only through time-warp technology), and jumbo coffees all around.

I still miss Suzerain and wanted some Aristotelian resolution, but if you can’t have the ending you’d love, love the action sequences you’re with.

Lessee. In The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Mr Beaver tells the Pevensies that the White Witch is supposed to be descended from Lilith and that she was one of the Djinn.

However, i like this one:

God created a man and three women. The man decided that his name was Adam, and he immediately began naming the others and assigning tasks.

The first woman was cute but chubby, with freckles and a snub nose, and Adam decided that her name must be Becky. He said “Becky, find some stuff to cook and get a fire going and make dinner for everone, and after that, why don’t you see if you can find us something to wear, okay?”

The second woman was tall and curvaceous, with a cute little nose, long black hair, and big … langourous eyes. Adam took one look at her and said” And you’re Lilith. Gather up some soft stuff, make a bed over behind those bushes and wait for me there…”

He looked at the third, who was not tall or short, who had plain, straight mousy brown hair, a big nose and bad complection and an angular, rather flat-chested, figure, and said “…and, ummm, I’ll tell you what, Eve - why don’t you be our historian?”
